Okay, so my friend was talking about this site, and it's called 4Chan, he said that there was a weird one and not to go on it, I say okay. He then sends me a link along with the comment "Well if you say so" So I click it and it goes to some forum called /b/ on the 4Chan site.
If you've been there before you'll know how gross it is. There is pics of suicides, gory things like people cut in half. Horrible things. Even Child pornography! Now I'm not sure if it is illegal where ever you are, but here it is lower than low. Why haven't the FBI done something about the site? Closure sounds like a good idea.
Honestly, it is the worst thing I have ever seen on the internet. I wish that none of you have gone on the site. It's just morally wrong.
What are your thoughts?

As far as I'm aware the suicide and really gory pictures are legal (probably because it can't be proved that it's real or fake) but the child porn is obviously illegal and the 4chan moderators remove it when it's reported or they find it.

The reason it's not been shut down is because the moderators remove anything like CP... Gore etc. is still allowed.

I go on because half of the **** posted is funny and the video games section people post crazy setups and everything.

The thing is, 'back in the day', 4chan used to be an incredibly funny gathering place for the internet's rejects, where sticking a load of people together could create great things, especially within the confines of /b/.
Unfortunately, its success was part of its downfall, as new people started posting, turning 'Anonymous' from a fun group to belong to, and a bit of an inside joke, to some elite moron's version of fight club - thinking it's okay to post child pornography and the suchlike, because they're Anonymous and all that.
It's a shame, really, it ruined what was, once, an incredible website.
i'm not going on because it sounds morally wrong!

I go on it all the time. Child porn, when posted, is usually deleted immediately and the poster of it banned.
If you, like me, have used the site long enough you'll become immune to the gore etc cos you see it all the time. I love that place.
And Verrou, I hope that when your mate mentioned it, you slapped him and reminded him of rules 1 & 2 :p

Also, whilst /b/ isn't 4chan, and 4chan isn't /b/, 90% of all posts on the board do go to Random, so it's certainly a huge part.

if there's child pornography, yeah the police can shut it down. but they cant take it down for showing pictures of suicides and gory things etc. thats perfectly legal.

This^, alot of funny crap comes from /b/ & it's always got funny/new/imaginative stuff on there not the same junk pictures everyones seen a thousand times. as someone said anything illegal is removed by mods, its the same as this forum just a message board dedicated to random things which is mostly funny stuff.

/b/ has a crack team of lawyers, so shutting them down isn't the easiest thing, besides, mods usually permaban /b/tards who post child pornangraphy. And stratocaster is correct, there's nothing against the law about decipiting gore and obscenities like that, eitherwise things like Horror movies would be illegal, personally, I love /b/ and enjoy the random, it's more of a aquired taste though. Without /b/, I'm sure I'd slowly fade away as I've been an oldfag on /b/ for 5 years.

i am a frequent visitor on /b/ although nowadays it is just overcrowded with newfags thinking it's funny to post cp and the one certain 'post ending in 75 tells me which body part to expose' image that is older than time itself.
