These days, 'modern life' can mean that we're a lot less active. With so many opportunities to watch TV or play computer games, and with so much convenience and fast food available, we don't move about as much, or eat as well as we used to. Which means that 9 out of 10 kids today could grow up with dangerous amounts of fat in their bodies. This can cause life-threatening diseases like cancer, type 2 diabetes and heart disease - so it’s really important that we do something about it.
You've taken the first step towards getting your kids eating well, moving more and living longer just by being here – so welcome to Change4Life!

We all know it can be hard these days to live a happy, healthy life but Change4Life can help. After all, none of us are perfect. The way we live in modern society means a lot of us, especially our kids, have fallen into unhealthy habits. Even the best of us can make small changes.

Would you like loads of ideas and help to give your family a happier, healthier future? Then you already know why you should join Change4Life. As part of Change4Life, you will receive tons of helpful information, games, tools, tips and a free welcome pack. You can also search for what is happening in your local community. In a word - everywhere! Making a Change4Life is really important, so we're going to be talking to you through your telly, your radio, your parks, your local halls, your supermarkets, in your children's schools and, with any luck, in your home too. And that's just for starters!

I saw the advert for this recently followed by a.... McDonalds advert. LOL!

I'm happy with my life, don't fix what isn't broken (I'm not healthy and I couldn't care less).

I don't honestly care, I'd rather enjoy eating and die a few years earlier than not and live a few extra crummy years sitting in a chair watching Television.

I don't think you'll enjoy it so much when your obese with no family and you live on your own in a one bedroomed council flat.

So now because someone is obese they typically have no family and live in a council estate? Boy are you so wrong there. I think you've got in your head that people are just like the half ton mum.

A lot of obese people in the world are active on a daily basis, it's just they eat the wrong foods and don't exercise enough, thus putting on the pounds.

When you eat crap and dont exercise > obese > ugly and fat > no one will find you attractive > living on your own.

I think it's stupid. Obese morons know they're in the wrong. They need phycological help. :)

Captain

I think it's more due to the fact that they're lazy and cant be bothered to exercise and often go for convenient foods and fast food.

Agreed hence why I'm not contradicting myself. I actually have a high metabolism atm so I'm still skinny (although I shouldn't be!). I'd rather be happy and die earlier tbh. I do walk to school though (an hour away).

a high metabolism doesnt mean your healthy.. just because you look skinny doesnt mean your organs arent covered in fat.

Ah well I'd rather have them covered in fat and be skinny than have them covered in fat and be fat

Captain

or you could just stop being lazy and remove yourself from the computer for a few hours and exercise and cut out the junk.

much easier.

I don't think you should stereotype.
I can tell you for a fact, some of the people who are on the internet all day aren't fat... I could name a few on this very here website.

And you can't sit here and say "omg fat kids eat way too much".
You never know what's wrong with them... they may be diabetic by birth, they may have all kinds of disorders, yet you're all stereotyping and that's why Britain nowadays is so narrow minded.

Talking from experience here, when I joined the gym like two years ago, my trainer told me that the reason I was putting on weight was because I didn't eat ENOUGH. I wasn't getting even half of the calories I should've been getting, so my body was storing the food that I was eating as fat, because it was worried that I was starving myself... So now, I eat more to make sure I don't end up fat/obese... & I'm a pretty broad shouldered guy, but I'm certainly not fat, broad shoulders come from genes- there's still the debate going on whether obesity comes in genes or not.

It annoys me when people are narrow minded and have the audacity to mock other people, when they don't even know the basis of it :/

I never said I was healthy. I know I'm not healthy. I'm just saying that I'm not fat externally. For me, it's happiness over healthiness and normally, people link the two whereas I don't. Stupid? Maybe... but I'm happy all the same.

As for this advert, I don't think it will change anything. It's a lot quicker, cheaper and convienent for those hard-working, busy parents to give their kids the junk.

This is turned into some mass debate.

Look your health should be the most important factor in your life, fact.

If your overweight your overweight, no matter how great your social life is the fact of the matter is your body is prone to Illnesses, diseases and health problems.
Stop denying, trying to defend yourselves. There's a reason projects like this run and there's also a reason why projects like this fail (like what I did there? 1-0 to Soy)
