What wage would you like to be on once you've finished education and in a permanent job? Just imagine that things are like they are atm in regards to house prices and current wages etc

Casanova
11-02-2009, 07:18 PM
To start off with, £250.
Once I'm at my peak? £1000 a week. And yes, that's not an estimation but the wage i'd want and not what might be the reality. I'm going on what my old boss earned at least a weak with the peak thing.

Hecktix

£40 000+

Immenseman
11-02-2009, 07:27 PM
Yeah, I want 35,000+ :) 35K would be enough for me especially if I had a partner on a similar wage, decent house, decent car, holidays, enough to start a family etc.

No qualifications: 10-15k

No qualifications but show commitment and hard work: 21k rising on experience

Qualification with good job: 21k and rising.

People expecting to be on 40k+ a year coming from school or uni are nuts. It aint gonna happen unless your mummy and daddy own a well established business :D

Not really both my parents came from working class familes and they're on an OK wage! My step-mum went to UNI and she's on like 35K and my dad is on like 20 but he only started having a professional job like 3/4 years ago.

Well, when i leave school I'm going to college and looking to get a Part-time job in sales (Somewhere like Virgin or BT) On 10k something like that. Build my way up and going into Management - 30k.

Mum doesn't want me too start working early - "Just enjoy your young life as she always says" But i can do that and still work. Best to work young and hopefully retire in my 40's. :P

I'm looking to do a some Voluntary work in a different country or do some Traveling so i don't know yet.

PaulMacC
11-02-2009, 07:36 PM
Well, my dad earns 37K, so roughly about that. Maybe more.
I'd be aiming for 40k + but if that falls through, i'd like 25k+ a year at least.
I've still got a long way to go.
GCSEs then College/6th Form then Uni ;(

Aiming for a nice 6 figure salary by working my way up. :P Depends whether I get into actuarial profession or not, and work my way up the ranks. If not then i'll just hope to win the lottery. (1 in 13,983,816 chance) :D If not that, then a professional rent boy in soho.

People expecting to be on 40k+ a year coming from school or uni are nuts. It aint gonna happen unless your mummy and daddy own a well established business :D

As from May 2008 [our] trainee solicitor salaries will be:

Year One: £37,000
Year Two: £42,000
You were saying? Those are typical salaries for any trainee at a City law firm. Mummy's and daddy's well established business is optional.

Some people don't believe jobs in this country operate on a system of merit. The vast majority of them do. Everyone should get used to that fact and not the life of 20 years ago where what mummy said could make a huge impact.

roughly £20-30,000 for a junior, £40-50,000 for registrars, and consultants (what my dad is) get around £90-100,000 + up to £70,000 in merits and optional private work.

For a GP:
Salaried jobs vary from about £55k to £80k for 8-9 sessions (i.e 4 days or 4 and a hlaf days, with NO nights or weekends.)

Locums earn between £300 and abour £500 per day depending on where in the country and the time of year / demand

Partners now average about £90-100k, although partners in good practices can earn over £150k withouth doing any weekends or nights (this is extra!!)

Tbh I want to join the army the entry pay is £13,012.80, which isn't bad, but I'd like to rise up to like Sergeant which is from £28,622.64 to £35,218.80. Then leave a start up a coach company, and make about £100k+ a year, but we live in reality so prob' about 50k+.
