Well I've finished puberty so it's got nothing to do with that and I wash twice a day so I don't have a clue how I got them. I've got around 5-10 red spots on my face that won't go. I've been washing day and night with loooads of soap then put freederm cream on them but they still won't go. What are the best ways to get rid of them, regardess of the cost? Thanks.

Use spot wipes, i use oxy guy and its really good although its harsh on my skin so i use some other wipes to soften the skin and protect it *+*+*

Have they come to a head or are they like boils under the skin? Because you can probably get medication for them if they're pretty bad.

Theres always a few with heads that I squeeze. Am I right to squeeze them?

No don't, if they come to a head then just leave them and they'll go away by themselves. It's the ones which are under the skin which you've gotta sorta think about, cuz they look the worst.

Ok, so what can I do to make them go away faster?

Stab them with a knife and lick the puss. Works a treat

Wash your face daily, even try putting them under a steamer because then your pores will open up.

Would boiling the kettle then removing the lid be a good source of steam?

Pyroka
16-02-2009, 05:50 PM
Uh... Yeah, actually that would have the same sort of effect. I think. You have to keep it under for quite a while and you'll feel your pores open. Then clean your face and you'll get alot of the dirt in your pores out easier. The ones with boils will simply go away or come to a head eventually, and the ones with heads should just disintegrate xD

Try Tea Tree Oil this is BEST! Or you can basically just keep away from greasy foods Eg: bacon, fried eggs, chips. Keep clean and be patient.

You often find with cheaper "spot" products that they remove dirt but they remove natural oils, known as lipids. Most products advertise natural oils as a problem but you need them as a layer to keep skin balanced. Excess oils are the problem, not the oils themselves.

I'd speak to your doctor, they can give you products to apply which have hydrogen peroxide in 'um, which is the same chemical in what makes hair colour react and work, it works on skin but your doctor is best at acting against the problem.

Also you'll find that soap is alkaline which is actually bad for your skin as your skin is on an acid scale of 4.5-5.5 PH - your products should be on an acid scale. Alkaline products remove all your surface goodness.

Would boiling the kettle then removing the lid be a good source of steam?

oh my god. Science lesson;

Matter changing state (solid to liquid to gas or vice versa) requires an immense amount of energy. This is because when it's going from solid to liquid or liquid to gas, energy is taken in to break the bonds between the molecules. Therefore, when it changes BACK, gas to liquid or liquid to solid, that same immense energy is given back out. This is called 'Latent Heat' or somtimes 'Hidden Heat'. This is why a steam burn will literally take the skin right off your face if you do that. Water also requires the most amount of energy to change state. Basically don't do what you said you would, please.

Boiling the kettle and lifting the lid is just gonna scold your face lmao.

I personally think your just making the spots even worse. Washing your face constantly is just cleaning away essential oils from your skin. Your skin realises these oils are missing and mass produces tonnes of it casuing greasy skin which in course, creates plenty of spots.

I suggest keeping away from things like Clearasil which contain harsh chemicals. Wash your face twice a day with soap and water, don't use too much soap though.

Go to your GP, they can give you a pescription for anibiotics and they help get rid of spots.

Captain

Eventually, your skin will become accustomed to the anti biotics and they won't work.

i use wipes and stuff, but i found the best thing to do is drink lots and lots of water every day. its great for your skin and great for your health in general. drink like i'd say 10+ glasses a day.

whatever you do, do not squeeze whiteheads because you will then spread the dirt etc and stuff in the spot around your face possibly.
for my spots i went to the doctors and got a special gel called 'panoxyl' which is like an antibiotic gel/cream that you put on your face. it did work very well, and i found it dried my spots up nicely.
it's best not to used anything which is perfumed because i found it irritated my skin, like perfumed soap, try and use simple soap which has nothing added to it :)
hope this is of some help.

Toothpaste will dry up your skin but eventually make it worse.

when i was abit younger i had quite a few spots so i went to my gp and she subscribed me something called zineryt which contained zinc and i had to put it on instead of using a facial cleanser. i put it on and within around 5 days to a week most of my spots had gone and if they hadnt then they had lost all redness! it was amazing. i also got some anibiotics that help with spots and even though because of the prescriptions i dont have any spots anymore, i still take these everyday out of habit and to prevent spots. its really good and i think if you are worried you would try this.

hope that helped :)

Nope it probably a main cause for spots tbh, as you wash out of natural stuff that keeps spots away. Just keep the cream on, or act your doctor for a stronger cream. Just don't wash your face with soap.

yeah, my first dose of zineryt was amazing but my second and other doses after that didnt work as well. i think it may have been the transition to it that worked well.
i use the tetrasyl 300 tablets! i think they work ok, but i suppose thats because zineryt worked so fast and tetrasyl 300 is a slow pacer tablet. how are you finding the tablets?
i havent heard of that gel, but a couple of months ago i was prescribed differin gel to put on after cleaning my face and i found it burnt my skin! -- it left red patches on the sides of my face and on my neck which took about a week to clear and were really hard to cover even with foundation and concealer. so yeah, veered away from that one, haha.

i take one a day, how about you? yeah, they dont seem to be doing anything really. however, as they are antibiotic they have prevented me from getting sick a few times, haha. i used to be really prone to tonsilitis before i took these and now i never get it like i did and ma' says its because i have loads of antibio in me, haha.

clearasil gives you dry skin (4 most ppl).
wash ur face at night with spot gel stuff then put some sort of spot/skin stuff that your meant to leave on. when its dry put moisturiser on your face (not on spots tho). it helps your spots and also stops dry skin which most spot creams give you.

I asked around the station about this and my sergeant told me that the old over-night way to get rid of them is before you go to bed steam your face (put your face above boiling water in a bowl, with a towel trapping your head and the bowl together so that its your face that is absorbing the steam). Then burst the visible spots and soak a peice of wool in aftershave and stick it to the spots.

When you awake they should be gone!

the toothpaste before bed does work but it's really harsh on your skin so your skin can start to peel so i wouldn't do it too often & like jack said, face wash works better. Or use a facepack every so often (yer, even if you're a guy :P) they really help too

Any Clearasil with micro beads makes your skin really dry then when you use moisturiser it gives you more spots so I wouldn't recommend it. Anything from Nivea is really good and it's soft on your skin.

I've always got a tip that I've known since I was so little, well, when you go for a shower or a bath, DO NOT put any shower gel or any soap on your face, just wash your face with hot water. Okay, it might sound rank or unhygienic, but my mums like the worlds cleanest person and she told me when I was young, and I actually never ever get spots, never have.

Oh, have you tried getting a cotton bud, dipping it into boiling water and then pushing it against the spots LOL..

Don't use clearasil and whatever, that removes the oils you need on your face to prevent spots, resulting in more spots. It can just be a phase of puberty, in this case you'll have to sit through it. First of all try toothpaste, sounds weird, but it works, make sure you wash your face with water after leaving a rubbing of toothpaste on for a while.

use CLINIQUE :)..like the dermatologist at CLINIQUE said..there are 3 basic steps for a clean,healthy face lol;

1.cleanse with cleanser
2.Exfoliate with clarifying lotion
3.Moisturise with moisturising gel

I use them and it's good.they are fragrance and allergic free also.and i also got their anti-blemish product which is good against spots

so yeah try CLINIQUE

and anyway to those spots..don't try to remove with your free hands cause theyll be worst.good luck neways

This and I occasionally exfoliate because I'm a manly man. I think it's more down to your skin rather than the way you look after it. Some people are going to get more spots than others.
