I recieved my Nokia 5800 at 23 minutes past one today, fully charged out of box and easy instructions, install cd has some pretty tantalising music on it, the touch is sort of hard to get used to if you have used a ipod touch/iphone before because it takes two taps to do stuff not one, handwriting recognition is very good it recognises my handwriting and thats an accomplishment (literally) , WiFi is pretty good, it has GPS which is free apart from the location services such as navigation and stuff, all around good phone, good pc application and quick install

Omnipitent!

Omniapitent!

See what I did? (H)

I have a question though, I think in my contract it would say that I can't browse, would the Wi-Fi on the net contributeto that or is it surfing WAP etc.

After spending a while looking around online, "hmmmm"ing and "ahhh"ing, I went into the Carphone Warehouse today. There were a number of things I wanted to check out before I let myself go over this £15 p/m contract... so after asking if they had a live demo at hand, the guy enthusiastically handed me one and kudos to him, he could answer any question I had about the phone and O2.

Apparently there have been lots of these babies getting sold. I guess that's got to be expected, given that every phone shop has posters up advertising it.

Based on first expectations, it's a wonderful phone. I will post some pictures and more consolidated thoughts at the weekend.

Do share which bad things. I watched and read many reviews and the main criticism was that the screen was difficult to use. Anyone interested in this phone should go into their local store and ask if they have a live demo phone. I have had no issues with the screen.

One reviewer also said that although it was solidly built, the overall 'feel' quality didn't feel very high. I can say that it has a higher quality feel than the Sony Ericsson K850i or W810i, if they are anything to go by.

Perform the motion you would to create a space, but do it the other way. That's backspace! :) The handwriting recognition is actually very good.

And whoever asked if it comes with a stylus: yes, it slides into the phone itself. There is also a plectrum stylus on a wrist strap which you can attach, if it tickles your fancy. I was impressed by the inclusion of a case. In addition to those, you get the mini-USB to USB data cable, earphones, handsfree extension for earphones, and a cable to plug in the earphone socket to (presumably) hook up to your stereo.

Very good phone, setting up as we speak. I'm very impressed with it thus far :)

Also- Barmi do you know how much of a "proportion" we're on for the first month? As the contract said we wouldnt get our full allowance for the first month, hell I don't even know how many minutes I have if any atm!

I'm pretty sure your on about the Pro-rata (sp?). This basically means, until your contract starts (usually 31st or 1st) You've got a certain amount of texts & mins for free, then you have to pay for the rest.

They should have explained but most choose not to, because it brings them more money when people send more texts than the Pro-Rata gives.

:) hope thats clear.

Not in the slightest! :P

I've no idea whats going on with it, it's one complicated ass system!

When I try and find my "allowances" online, it says there is an error.

Help!

Until the 31st/1st you dont get your full allowance, you only get a certain amount.

The amount depends on your conract, lengh of time till the 31st/1st etc.

Basically dont go textin & callin too much, unless you want a v. expensive bill. Although you pay for 500 text or w.e You only get 50 or so (my case) hopefully thats a little clearer.

On the trying to find out what you got left, You cant do that either :)

You sound like your on vodafone, :P exactly what i had.
