Serving customers will not help you in the Police.

Er, you don't deal with customers in the Police?
No... But it would give you hands on experience in dealing with members of the public like you do in the Police.

So swiping things through a scanner and constantly saying AV YA GOT A NECTAR CARD M8 gives you hands on experience for the Police Service?
Dont think so.

bar work will be experience for the police? maybe the 'handling drunk idiots' part but nothing else...#
if you want police experience, apply to become a special constable. if you want more info on this just pm me

Well i doubt he'll be handling the drunks since he isn't a bouncer so he won't have to handle any drunken idiots.
Becoming a Special is your best bet if you want to become a police officer, being a special will you give an insight experience as to what you should expect in the police force since Specials have the same powers as a Police Officer.

Er, you don't deal with customers in the Police? No but you deal with problems that occur and people talking to you, any experience with a person (job wise) is good for things like this. My cousin (a policewoman) even said so
i've never really worked i've done experience in law firms but yeah that should be great experience for you :D Exactly.

Dont think so. I wont need to ask for a nectar card im working in a pub. And it gives you experience, end of really.

Talk about some of you taking it all literally!
Working with people will help you to gain a wider perspective of people and how to deal with certain situations or circumstances that may arise from this.
It will look good for when you apply to the Police, they like people with a wide range of experience of working within a community i.e Youth clubs etc, okay it may not be necessary but it will look so much better on your CV when asked about what you did to help your application instead of just turning around and saying "Well I gained my gcse's and A levels, and err, I liked the sound of the job basically..."
Anyway, Good Luck with it all I hope it all works out for you :)
Have you considered going to university to do a Criminology degree, Public Services degree or even a Psychology degree, it would really help you if are really serious about it all.
Lots of paperwork in the police force.
