What do you think

Good? or Bad? That they now allow sign ups from anyone.

Maybe this should be done with other mail sites [Yahoo, Hotmail] (invite only system) or maybe it shouldn't. Put your point of view across here.

It's pretty much the same just less choice in username.

GMail is probably the best email provider, I say.

They're not, he's asking if you think they should be.

Ofc not no. What would be the benefit of that :S

No. At least the people who were invited got a better domain - @gmail rather than open sign ups where it's now @googlemail.

Oh right.

Well they can't exactly change now, they're the most popular providers on the net.

It wouldn't make a difference.

Ah, I regret not registering a shorter/nicer name when I was invited ages ago. O well :(

I remember GmailSwap, and you traded invites. The fact that GMail was exclusive made everyone want to join.

I have a Gmail.com account, and I use Google Apps For Your Domain for all my email :) It's the best email solution around, definitely better than the cPanel default options. You get the brilliant interface, unrivalled client support (mobile, IMAP, POP3) and you can use Google Sync to sync calendar and contacts with iPod Touch and Windows Mobile phones :)

GMail is the best. I like how it makes email into like proper conversations and how I can just leave it open and it'll update date its self. Also the fact you don't have to pay for POP3, IMAP and so on is great compared to Hotmail. The Mobile App is great as well.

Nobody ever invited me ;(

My friend was telling me about this a few years ago, how you had to be invited...but I just went and registered? Dunno. Mines @gmail.com.
