View Full Version : Picture of yourself forum

Right, now that you're allowed to post pictures of yourself directly on the forum (I think, ignore this thread if you're not) I think you should have a forum which is dedicated to users own pictures of themselves.
I think the demand definitely is there, on other Habbo forums the "Photo Booth" type forum are one of the most active. I asked people who use CHF, where they have a forum to post your own picture would you use HxF if they had the same forum and the answer was yes.
I think if there was one added it'd be one of the busiest forums. I understand the problems with safety but nobody is going to make anybody post their pictures. I also understand there could be bullying but again if people are insecure about their looks they wont post and we have moderators anyway.
Just an idea :)

I think it would be a good idea, but as you said it would have to be heavily moderated. Would you say post count should count as obviously the one in spam doesn't and you could have people just commenting saying "Pretty!" to instantly raise their count.
Good idea though

I don't think sierk will like it mind you and it is his forum at the end of the day. :)

Jakey, your right, the new Fansite rules (actually quite old now), state that you must allow people to post a picture of themselves, the actual rule is :
- Allow your visitors to post a photo of themselves that's appropriate and does not contain personal information.
And the "post a pic of yourself" thread is very popular, so I think it's a good idea bbe <3

Judging how popular it is on other forums I think it'd be popular here and others would sign up just to look at habbos especially if they were well known.

nah i think the post a picture of yourself thread is fine although hardly anyone uses it anymore & i don't think there needs to be a thread just of one persons pictures, it would clog up the forum i think.

It would be so beneficial though, I think anyway.

The thread isn't so popular it needs its own area tbh, you get like no posts for ages and then a load of just spam so I don't think this is really necessary. Definitely no post count if it is put in

If you wanna see a specific person, and not some ugly person like Jakey (no offence) then you'll be able to see them quicker <3
And you don't have to crawl through MILLIONS of posts just to see what people look like, because people won't be commenting on multiple pictures, they'll just be commenting on 1, which will be at the start of the thread, so simples :D
Immenseman
21-02-2009, 05:07 PM
Because it's so hidden away. I reckon more people would post themselves if there was a designated forum for it, you can see people have started doing it this way without a forum! People have began posting themselves in the photography/pictures forum so they can have their own thread to get peoples thoughts on their appearance.

Maybe have a sub-forum in the Pictures and Photography forum?
However, if it where to be anything like the spam one it may be better of not having a post count. Although saying that, not having to post in that specific thread may encourage more people to use it more and generate a bit more productiveness :P
Aswell as, if you deliberately post to insult you will be dealt with more heavily.

When you have a specific forum, all you get is people like Sam on ChF saying "Looking lovely :)" on every thread. :eusa_wall

I think the threads enough as it is, in my opinion.
Good idea, the whole security bit anyway doesn't matter, as it's allowed now isn't it so I guess they can't use that as an excuse. I think it would be active and good :)

http://www.clubhabboforum.net/forumdisplay.php?f=682 That's their "photo booth" forum it's very popular, more so than a lot of our current forums and that's a smaller site than this.

Agreed...
A whole thread dedicated to a picture of yourself? I don't really see a need, I think the thread's enough, also, having the forum would make it easier to search for people's pictures- I don't particularly want a weirdo searching for my pictures :S, as I'm sure others don't.
Also, if the forum is made, I think it'd mean strong moderating... because people are so.... um... how can I say it nicely... critical.

Again, using CHF as an example they only added it a few months ago. It's like there 8th most popular forum compared to their others which have been there for like 2 years it's been there for about 4 months or so and already got over 50k posts. I don't think it'll be any different on HxF.

I'm more of a fan of 'Practise what you preach', you haven't even posted yourself in the thread, yet you're so concerned to make a thread about it, clearly you've been looking in there too much :P
I'm not saying you should post yourself, I just find it a little ironic and silly coming from yourself.
Immenseman
21-02-2009, 06:46 PM
Well the different threads posted aren't spam and there are lots of those. We have already agreed that post count should be disabled should it be implemented.
I wouldn't post in a thread in spam because nobody leaves any sort of feedback therefore it's not silly at all. If there was a forum I would post myself although most people have seen me. In fact, just to back this up I posted myself on CHF ages ago in their forum because it's your own designated thread. Thus it's not ironic nor silly!

They're a very different forum tbh, much more friendly and boring so basically you could get any munt posting and they'd still post saying "aww cute :):):):):)" whereas here you'd get a load of spam or insults, which is hilarious but the mods don't like it much

Pointless - You may aswell just post them in spam in their own threads (not the horrific thread already in there :P), that's what they are really... And if they have a point, then fashion and style, maybe even photography depends on the subject.

Some people don't like posting there all together, so i doubt they would make a thread for an image of themselves. So that's why i think a forum for it would benefit everyone more.

Not everyone post pictures of themselves generally, and this does seem like the sort of thing that can go in any forum. Having a forum just for pictures of yourselves seems too basic. If you're taking a picture of a car, you can be standing next to it and that thread could go in transport. If you're showing off fashion, again, it can go into the fashion forum. It just seems like a wasted forum, when posting pictures of yourselves could fit into any forum and if not, spam in general.
Why is the spam forum so scary anyway?
Yoshimitsui
22-02-2009, 06:30 PM
I just think that people would me more inclined to post themselves providing they want to for reasons of just being friendly, getting to know other people if they did not have to base it somewhere else, where they wouldn't post it because there is no specific place.
And i think people can feel intimidated when it is not a specific discussion and coming into their and starting to post.
GommeInc
22-02-2009, 06:43 PM
Surely that's the same as having a forum with its main purpose to be looked upon? If they get intimidated just by posting in a thread where people have already 'shamed' themselves, then posting their own thread would be panic attack heaven? :P I can only see the people who already use that spam thread as the ones using that forum. Perhaps a sub-forum somewhere, rather than a full forum? Afterall, whoever cleared up the forum of barely active forums last time would have to do it again for a forum which would only be used by a select few, with the odd people popping in to nose at what members look like :P

I guarantee that people would sign up just to look what other people looked like! Ryan, you've been here for years people would love to see what you looked like :D I've already had the pleasure but for those who haven't ;) Once people are looking at others they will post themselves.
Admittedly, there are criticisms for it, bullying being the main one. I don't think you can say it'd be inactive because I just KNOW it wouldn't, lol. A sub-forum would be quite apt.

Theres this problem right, it's called becoming ClubhabboForum after ClubHabboForum inevitable shuts down.
This would just contribute to this forum, and would attract the newbs like geeks to a star trek convention.

I think it'd be good. It would probably even attract more members and it'd be nice to have some new faces around here. Most (certainly not all) regular members have either more than a thousand posts and if they don't, it's because their old account got banned and they've returned on a new one. I think if it was moderated well and thoroughly it would be a great addition to Habbox. I'd plus rep you for coming up with the idea Jake but I have to spread, sorry.
This is a great Idea :)
It should be a sub forum to photographs

I was just thinking, if this happens why shouldn't you be able to have a picture of yourself as an avatar? Searching this new forum would have pretty much the same effect as looking at someone's avatar with a picture in it anyway. I know a certain member of management is against that for unfathomable reasons which have never been adequately explained but if this went through so should that imo.

Wasn't it something to do with they embedding and them not wanting to actually host the picture? That probably made no sense whatsoever but I'm sure it was something like that.
