Ive got an idea, i think we should have a sectiom which we can swear in but not in and insulting away, also be kind of rude in a teenage way. But you got to be 13+ to actually view it (or maybe a different age)?

why do you want to be able to swear?

No. Can't you live without swearing? There's no need for it hence the filter, and 13 year olds (that i know) are still too young for the kind of stuff i'm guessing you're gonna want to talk bout in this forum, and they can lie about their age anyway they can't give proof, i think it would be ok if this was a small forum but it isn't so no not really.

Why? What threads are you going to put in it which you can't put anywhere else in the non-13+ bit?

And the only age restriction area I would support would be a 16+ area in the health section.

This thread is pure childish, yeah swearing on the internet? Pure pro mate.

Maybe something unique to other forums. And plus how the hell is it childish? Some of us on this forum are dying to swear at each other.

Fighting on a forum?

If you want to fight atleast do it outside with fists, not with words on a forum.

I can imagine this section now... Oh I'll shank you mate, the weapon I'll use is the sentence "You drink your nans piss".

Sorry but i think it is a really bad idea. And at the the age of thirteen you have no reason for swearing in the first place, and the same applies for anyone on a message board in my opinion. It is not nice to look at and it is pointless.

If you start allowing people to swear all you have is countless swear words in every post just because people feel it makes them look good, when it really is because they have nothing constructive to say and lack the brains to find anything else that is not vulgar.

Despite this being a young forum and related to a game for younger teens it does not however need turning into football match environment whatever the age range.

Not only does this idea go against many forum rules, it goes against your original suggestion.

******* **** idea tbh :P

Exactly. This idea has usually been rejected in the past on the grounds habbox can't prove if users are over 13 or not.

I remember HabMate having a 16+ forum onces, with no filter and it was a lot more lax on terms of sexual discussions and thigns, though you had to send management pictures of proof of age (passport/ID etc)

Plank

It would be impossible to enforce, likewise with a previous suggestion of male/female only forums.

No point :/ Most users are 13+ and the youngest age youre meant to join is about 11/12. Also, why would you want to swear? That in itself is pointless :P

For a start sending some stranger a picture of your passport/ID is unsafe, then there is the fact that HabMate was a joke.

This idea is ridiculous. For cyring out loud this forum is a Habbo related forum, Habbo happens to be for children aged 11 and over! Nvrspk4 has clearly brought along a new generation of Habbox and in all honesty I believe the eventual hope is to obtain official status for the forum, ohhh yeah I'm sure Habbo will embrace ideas of a forum where people can swear & discuss sexual content with open arms!!!

Swearing is completely unnecessary online, especially on a forum aimed at youngsters. I know full well there are very young people on this forum, you for instance are one of them, and it's just completely unnecessary.

Just stop trying to be the common hard man. People here will just laugh at you. 'Cause we are a well-mannered, respectful community bar some pathetic idiots.

Well the thing is bylaw (yes another law but on the internetz) you can only join a forum at 13 or get a parent to fax a consent form.
I say this as I look on some forums and it's 13 and older because it's the law (says on their T&Cs etc)

that's a good point, how does habbox bypass this law?

Because you have to be aged 11 to use habbo allegedly, so not allowing the target audience would be rather silly with it being a Habbo forum.

I think the irony is that a 13+ forum, or one for the 'more mature' members, would be inhabited mainly by the forum's childish members. Who needs to swear, anyway?

The law you are referring to is the Children's Online Privacy Protection act (I believe), which is an American law. At a guess, as this is a fansite Forum for a UK website, they aren't required to follow the law. Not sure though.

Exactly and to be honest you shouldn't swear at any age and having a forum that has continious swearing won't be good for the people who don't swear or don't swear as much.

Besides, there is already a generalised teens section. Whilst anyone can access it, an 11 year old can't post on what teen life is like, seeing as they aren't yet a teen...

Theres no need for it, even if people weren't meant to swear at others they would and like Jen said, people would lie about their age.
I don't see why you can't just type without using swear words, it really isn't that difficult.

I think the bad language rule should be changed to only insulting.

As I have quite a few warnings because an image has a swear word in, which I think is stupid, because I don't think theres anyone on this forum who really gives a crap if someone swears or not.

That's incredibly childish. Judging by this post, it's quite evident that the only reason you want this new forum is so you have the freedom to insult people and on a Habbo forum, where is the point in that?

if it's 16 or 17+ thats OK, but lets face reality, a huge majority if 13 year olds are still very imature. It is just absurd to propose something like this. Also there are many ways to discuss things without swearing, what is it with people nowadays who can't live without it. You should be happy there is no swearing involved, may make the community better and teach you not to swear as much either. pfft ;s

Not exactly hard though, when teenager-years start quite early now. Year 7 or ages 11/12 are considered pre-teen years and children at this age act exactly the same as their 13 year old counter-parts. Heck, my 8 year old cousin has hit puberty :/ Some of us believe that a 'Teen Life' forum is a bit of a contradiction in terms that the whole forum is filled with teen life anyway :P Isn't Habbo advertised as a place for teens anyway?!

I think it's a bit extreme to compare an eight year old with a thirteen year old. I won't start a debate about it though since I'm against this new forum too. :P

Tis a small example, granted she nor anyone of that age won't really know what's happening, unlike a 11/12 year old which should of been taught about all that in sexual education :P
