Right i think that topman is the epitemy of crap
i mean, the clothes are so overpriced its not even funny
and nearly every single person goes there, so if there's a barely good looking t-shirt that theyve started selling you can bet that when you walk out of the shop you'll see about 20 people wearing the exact same one.
and like last year they started doing band t shirts like the ramones and guns n roses, and i bet half the people that buy them dont even like or know who they are.
And looking at the prices, its ridiculous, £20 for one t shirt?! How can someone even accept to pay that much for one shoddily made shirt. Shop around!!
Go to other shops, in H&M you can buy a t-shirt just as good (or better) for £7.

idno why i made this thread
oh well.

Who cares? Topshop/Topman is a high street brand, it's hardly something special. When you say you got it from Primark, peoples opinions are mixed but in the end they'll buy it if it looks nice. Where do you think most girls got their Ugg boots from, despite they wern't branded? I have a inkling, because I worked there.

There were some really cool tshirts in HMV in York when I went... Seasame Street, Rolling Stones, Nintento... quite funky really.

And I dunno if anyone knows this or has said it yet but Primark is owned by Topshop/man so they get pretty much similar crap. Its all made by labourers that get paid nothing.

Its hell with any fashion...
Designer clothes are well made but too expensive.
Discount/High Street shops are rubbish but cheap (depending on what shop).

Which is why Topman is worse because they rip you off bigstyle. Besides you tend to actually see most of the people in your school's clothes in that shop... its like they dont shop anywhere else...

Designer clothes are well made but too expensive.

I'd rather pay a bit more for something well made and recognisably branded than overpaying at Topman for something terrible. From haggling and clever buying I don't even pay that much more than other people and my clothes are mostly designer of some sort

Still, if your a student you tend to care less about brands and more about prices. Some tshirts in Matalan were 50p before...

TK Maxx is actually quite good though... they take in designer clothes that were not sold in season or were made the wrong size or have faults (not to the extent that any normal person would notice... stupid things like the inner fabric of the suit has a button on the poket missing...).

None of what they sell is crap really and sometimes people can get £400 or something designer jackets for like £40. Genius!

I'd say some Adidas would be a good addition to your designer collection.

Don't think I actually have any Adidas at all, all their new stuff is crap anyway it's that "originals" stuff which isn't original at all and all the indie freaks love it

Yeah I seen that, thought it looked OK and then I seen the price and died cuz they ARE NOT worth that amount of money. 40 quid for something you could probs buy in a tacky shoe shop in Turkey.

I would never be caught dead wearing Matalan stuff.

for me it's about myself.. I like to wear designer stuff (or high end market stuff) cause I just makes me generally feel better :S

He meant designer labels like Adidas :)

One of the reasons Topman/Topshop is popular is because of the student discounts, availability and cost. The basic stuff the majority of college and university students buy is affordable to some degree and the shops are qidely spread out, so if you want something in a certain style, Topman may have it and at the age of the majority of their customers are, they can get the student discount using an NUS card or equivalent.

They're ok, I rarely go there other than for the odd top that fits with a style I'm going for or for jeans that don't start wearing away, be it through day to day activities or through the wash. Designer clothes are just a label, if you only buy for the label then your style must be awful :P If you buy designer clothes to fit around a certain style you're going for, then fair dos :P I myself usually shop at River Island, GAP and Debenhams, just because I like what they do.

This is a good point, with my local Topman (in canterbury) there are two universities and a college near it, so there are always tons of students going in and out

Wooo Canterbury (L). Love shopping around there :D! They seem located in all the studenty areas, like Colchester (my local town) has a TopMan, 2-4 colleges, loads of schools and one university, while Witham (a town closer to me) hasn't got universities or colleges and simply hasn't got one.

for those of you who wear designer because it makes you feel superior and what not, would you rather wear:

something that isn't branded but looks really nice, or something that's designer but looks uglier?

i say it in all seriousness.

Hell no, I visit friends who go to the university in Canterbury :P Bluewater is ok, but the TopMan there has about the same amount as stuff as any other Topman, except bigger quantities, really :P

oh right, i was going to say :D ive always found that the bluewater one has more selection. the smaller stores only really get in the biggest selling things from like the flagship store in london.

Asos aren't cheaper :S Unless you buy the stuff that is worse quality... Most of the stuff they sell on there are rip-offs at best - this is of course if you mean the asos-brand stuff or the designer, fashion stuff like Diesel, Dolce and Gabana and all that crap :P

Go to Primark - £2.00 white plimsolls - they have a flowery rubber base but it wears away.

Urban outfitters are also good for black plimsolls

And i don't think the shirts are that dear to be fair.
