Ok I just seen Nick's setup in the setup thread, and I'm wondering what add-on/application would allow me to get the time and date etc like the picture below in the bottom left hand corner of my desktop?

It might be a dashboard widget that's been moved to the desktop.

Yeah using shell, but it isn't the same, here's what mine looks like now..

It's called GeekTools. It allows you to show the output of shell commands on your desktop. You just write a script to show time, something like
date +"%I:%M%p"
and then it will show you the time on your desktop. Here's mine using it:

Showing the weather conditions is a little more sophisticated. For me, I wrote a PHP script to get the current weather conditions for my city, and then using curl from the shell I display it on my desktop. There's guides for weather on Google. Just search GeekTools weather script.

It's the same. He just has different fonts and sizes.
