Okaysssss.
I'm thinking about getting one, the contract etc will be sorted for me so all I need to know is; is it worth getting?

I browse the web on the go and after having a Touch, I LOVE the Safari browser, which is my main reason. And the qwerty keyboard and touch screen... Usual reasons.

Don't list all the reasons against it, I've heard 'em all. :P
If you could just vote in the poll and give a reason for why you voted, that'd be great. :)

NOTE: If you vote "Get a ____", whatever you suggest needs to have a Querty keyboard, be touchscreen and have a really nice web browser, and not be a G1. ^_^

I would normally yes, as they're good, but wait out until June / July, they're developing another iPhone at the moment and it's not encredabily long to wait.

Only buy if you don't want the new iPhone. Otherwise wait out.

It is the perfect phone.

Are you sure they're developing a new iPhone that will be released in June?I've heard a lot of rumors about this and I'm curious because I'm supposed to be getting one within the next two weeks.

Im not gonna vote because you don't need a poll to tell you. You just need to ask yourself one question in order to give yourself the answer.

Will the iPhone meet your needs from a phone, even if its lacking all the features thats been highlighted? (Copy and paste, MMS, poor camera etc.)

If the answers yes, then ignore the poll and go buy one because you seem to be pretty much sold on getting one judging by your post.

Yes it will do what I need. Fast on-the-go internet, easy SMSing and emails via my dad's Exchange Server.

I still needs votes because I need independent opinions/advice on it from other people's point of view.

Yes, they are devloping iPhones every year, I wouldn't suggest doing the 2 year contract.

I asked myself this question today, but I've decided that there's so much news on the latest techology and phones that I should wait.

Well I've had mine since October 08 and i love it. I've never been one for a camera, not really bothered about MMS, although copy and paste is a feature i would like, but don't really need.

Go ahead and get one because they are very nice to use, compared to some phones of the equivalent with better cameras, like the SE Renoir, which i hate its software on the phone, and the touch screen is of poor quality. I do like the G1 though.

Edit //

As for the two year contracts, it's not two years, its 18 months, which is a year and half. I can see 02 offering the upgrade option again to current customers, because it will mean they will have to offer no discounts on iPhone tariffs meaning more money, and more customers tied back in for 18 months, plus more sales of the newer model iPhone.

Is jailbreaking the iPhone the same as jailbreaking a iPod Touch (1st G)?
But it doesn't really matter because I don't find that I need C&P abilities.

I don't like it, and I don't like T-Mobile either.

It's possible to upgrade by paying £99 :P
My uncle had a 1st Generation one on a £35/month and when the 3G model came out he went to the O2 Store and said "Here's £99 and my old iPhone, give me a iPhone 3G."
And as well as that they can't add anything to the phone which I would really need, as I've said, it meets all my needs already. :P

I've decided I do want one and I'm going to be getting one as soon as my dad's got all the funding sorted.

Yes, jailbraking is the same way on the iPhone 3G, just quickpwn your iphone and then your done.
