I know what it is but I don't get it, it's a debit card. The whole concept of a credit card is that you're spending money you don't have.

my debit card dont cost £2 per use?
lolll
A credit card has a set limit of 'credit' IE £1000 and you pay it off. Its basically money you are borrowing, and have to be 18 to have one.
All of the cards stated that you 'top-up' are just debit cards without the bank account features attached to them and are easier to set-up.

It's says "use it like a credit card"
So it's not actually a credit card.

well done I have 4 bank cards, as credit cards get you into trouble.
4 banks - split my wages up
£900 a month 25 each is about 200 in each bank each month

To confirm: no, it is not a credit card. It's not a debit card either. It's simply a pre-paid card which can be used wherever MasterCard is accepted (subject to restrictions). I have a Splash Plastic (Maestro) one and a PayPal (Visa pre-pay) but I don't use them any more... I use either my debit card (Maestro) or credit card (MasterCard) instead.

Back home I would assume 'plaggy' means 'plastic'.

Absolute rubbish. You get yourself into trouble; the credit cards don't do it. If you are irresponsible with your money, don't go blaming it on a credit card. I've got a credit card for two reasons: it is useful for online transactions and it builds up my credit rating.
Card do get you in trouble
they allow you to go over your limit and go into debt
lol it's not a credit card.. with a credit card it allows you to get money on 'credit' ie money which you don't have thus to be paid back.. plus, you have to be 18.
also i don't see the point in it really? it's basically just a debit card.. but some fobby rip off of one? why don't you just get a debit card which works on the same principle but you get it through a bank rather than some lesser heard of company? also i don't see the point really, use proper money.. really annoys me when people spend like a few quid on a card, i couldn't justify a purchase under £20 with a card payment unless I had no cash.

Banks in general allow you to go in debt. Does that mean banks get you in trouble? Cause ≠ consequence. Just because something gives you that flexibility, it doesn't mean it's inherently bad.
If you cannot manage your finances and abuse a credit card, then of course you will perceive it as bad. But if you control your purchases and only use your credit card now and then to add to your credit rating – knowing fine well you have money in your bank account to pay off your credit card bills instantly – there is little to worry about.

The point is that they are ideal for people who are incapable at managing their money. You can only spend whatever you have put on the card, so you can set yourself a strict allowance. Should something bad happen, you are not going to lose all the money in your bank account; only that which is topped up.

Calum's just wrote a reasonable explanation, the card it's self doesn't allow you to go over. Once you get to your limit, it stops. You only happen to go over when something you buy is a couple of pounds over.
I've got a Visa credit card from CapitalOne, Solo debit card from Natwest and a cash card from RBS. The ONLY one i've ever seemed to mess up is my natwest account which happened to go overdrawn twice.
You're the one who messes up, not the card. The card doesn't buy the expensive stuff. :)
