A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next service pack that contains this hotfix.

To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Customer Support Services to obtain the hotfix. For a complete list of Microsoft Customer Support Services telephone numbers and information about support costs, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support (http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support) (http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support)
Note In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for support calls may be canceled if a Microsoft Support Professional determines that a specific update will resolve your problem. The usual support costs will apply to additional support questions and issues that do not qualify for the specific update in question.
Prerequisites

You must have Windows Server 2003 SP2 installed to apply this hotfix.
Restart requirement

You must restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.
Hotfix replacement information

This hotfix does not replace any other hotfixes.
Registry information

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
322756 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756/) (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756/ ) How to back up and restore the registry in Windows

After you install the hotfix, you can change the following registry entries to increase the dynamic backlog queue for the socket driver and to set the backlog queue length. The COM runtime passes the length to the listen function for the server.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\AFD\Parameters
EnableDynamicBacklog
MinimumDynamicBacklog
MaximumDynamicBacklog
DynamicBacklogGrowthDelta
You can set the backlog queue length that the COM runtime passes to the listen function for the server by creating the following registry entry:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\{guid}\RpcProtSeqMaxCalls

Notes

The guid placeholder represents the application ID that is generated for the server process that must accept calls at a faster rate than the default setting allows.
The default value for the RpcProtSeqMaxCalls registry entry is hex 0x0A or decimal 10. The maximum value is 0x64 or decimal 100.
This registry setting only takes effect after you apply the hotfix that this article describes.
Additionally, you can turn off the SynAttackProtect global key on the server. To do this, you must set the vaule of the following registry entry to 0x0:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Tcpip\Parameters\SynAttackProtect
Note Turning off the SynAttackProtect global key is not required in this scenario.

For more informationabout how to set these registry keys, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

It's just very much easier contacting them, instead of me having you edit your registry step by step.

We can either step by step for 3 hours, go into regedit and change peices of your registry, hoping that it doesn't get messed up by posting on a forum, or you can contact: http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support (http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support) (http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support) and ask them for the hotfix for webpage: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960007 error: (whatever the errorcode was). Did you actually read what it said before you decided to link to it and copy and paste huge chunks?

"You must have Windows Server 2003 SP2 installed to apply this hotfix. "

Unless, for some super strange reason, he is running Windows Server 2003 SP2 (Which I highly doubt) then the hotfix will most likely not work.

What version of Windows are you trying to activate and are you actually running a legal copy?

Vista Enterprise is only sold to large scale businesses. I would recommend going to your IT department at work and asking them to sort it.

Basically, my version of Vista was messing up and I downloaded Windows 7 for a trial and I went searching through the Vista Parition and found another preloaded vista download on there. So I install this and went over the previous version but the thing is when I installed this new one I found it is Enterprise so my product/activation key doesn't work...

Any ideas on how I could get one?
(Oh and btw I've removed Windows 7 now)

The reason why you can't activate it is because Vista Enterprise does not connect to Microsoft's activation servers. Very large businesses usually set up their own activation servers.
