No it isn't, not if he is on Virgin Media 50mb.

Can't believe I have to get proof here but

In a nutshell, you'll get a download speed of up to 50Mb, with an upload speed of up to 1.5Mb

Yes, it can do.

Like when we moved to BT speedtest.net was reporting like 20 meg download and 10 meg upload for a day or so which is impossible on a standard broadband line like ours..

One pound per meg is a good deal. How much do you pay for your 2MB connection? I bet it's more than £2..

Even if you dont get your 30mb upload which probably was just speedtest erroring. Come on.. 50mb download is frigging amazing depending on the type of person for someone who games alot and does alot of movie/tv/music downloading it's a great connection and cant wait to get mine

No one needs a 50mb connection in the UK right now because it'll just be slowed down by the servers etc.

50Mb (the full 5.8MiB/s speed) isn't meant for browsing web pages, it's meant for downloading hd movies and such from sites that can handle that kind of bandwidth.

Thats all well and good, but for gaming you need good pings aswell, and lets face it, Virgin don't have the best.

Don't bother - as others have said, it's not needed unless you're doing a lot of downloads of huge files.

Desperate to spend a tenner? Buy a new mouse or something.

Thats good really. Remember it's 'up to', and your internal wiring and exchange distance/condition can greatly affect it. I wouldn't be moaning with 4mb of 8 tbh

Why don't they?

I know quite a few people who don't get such good pings with Virgin, you'd think they'd be able to manage decent pings and upload speeds if they're about to start trialling 150meg
