Brush your gums as well as your teeth :)

don't brush straight after you've eaten neither leave it like an hour or so

yeah it's probably worth getting some sensitive teeth toothpaste and using that twice a day. sorry for sounding like a dentist, but you do. i had this problem because i'm addicted to Dr. Pepper and once i got sensodyne sensitive teeth paste and brushed twice a day it got loads better after a week.

Use toothpaste designed for sensitive teeth, like sensodyne.

Also avoid hot and cold foods, especially after eachother.

Avoid rinsing your mouth out with water after you've brushed.
If you just spit out the excess and just leave it then the tooth paste can stay on your teeth a lot longer.

Your dentist would probably recommend this.

Or use a softer toothbrush?
In Australia (i presume where you are too), we have at least 3 different types of brushes: soft, medium, hard. Try a soft or medium brush ;)
