Hi.
For reasons I'd rather not say my school councilor recommended me for sessions with someone they have in school.
Have any of you had it, or better still, having it now?
I want to know if it's a worthwhile experience.
Answers asap please, she wants to know my decision by Friday 13th.
Thank you. :)
What has this got to do with 'Health Tips & Advice'

Theres one who was in my big brothers class when he went to this school and now hes working there I knew him and now he works at the school he always pulls me up in the halls speaking to me, In class I dont do work becuase he does most of it LOL And He talks about funny stuff to me so I dont mind hes jokes :)

I think it really depends on your school. In my experience, all my academic counselors were absolute rubbish except for the one I currently have in Uni, but that's because he's a specialized one for my major so he actually knows what he's on about as opposed to the counselors i had in college and stuff, who really didn't know their stuff. I'm guessing you're talking about a non-academic counselor though? Again it really depends on the counselors your school has. I had to go through grief counseling with a counselor from my school when I lost a close family member, and the counselor I had was fantastic and really helped me out. I've heard of many of my friends going through counseling sessions with counselors that were rubbish and didn't help them out though.. So my advice would be to go ahead and try out a session or two with the counselor, and see if they click with you or not. If you don't think it's going to help you or if you're uncomfortable with your particular counselor, you can always back out later or request someone else and what not. But yeah, it's going to be something you need to try and decide for yourself if its right for you, since no one in this forum knows what your particular counselor will be like.
