Im not sure about what to do once you're already hungover (other than get some food/water in you and go back to sleep), but for future reference the absolute best way to prevent one is to drink a ton of water when you're out drinking. I also take b-complex vitamins when I know I'm going out drinking/right before I sleep when I come back in. I don't know if it actually works, but a friend of mine told me about it and I looked it up online and supposedly it helps with a lot of hangover symptoms. To be honest I never got hangovers much to begin with since I usually drink a ton of water, but the vitamin b seems to help slightly as well.

Oh and for the record, stay away from coffee. I used to drink it in the mornings when I was hungover, but then I found out I shouldn't since caffeine is bad for you as it dehydrates you further.

don't drink water before bed just drink a whole glass of water as soon as you get up then sip on a fizzy drink and have paracetomal, as long as you get water and some sugar. or if you can face it have a fry up.

Continue eating well.

But this is the most important thing you do while you drink (beer) drink loads of water so it will not be massive when you wake up.

About a year ago I suffered the worst hangover of my life up until that point. I had been to the local pub and then went to the lock-in afterwards, and was extremely drunk. I had work the next morning at nine and I stumbled in looking scarily zombie like. A colleague whipped out two alkaseltzers and got me a glass of water and half an hour later I felt quite a bit better. The hangover remained but things certainly got better. Perhaps it had had a placeboesque affect on me as he told me it was really good, but hey it worked.
Another experience of mine: following my friend's 18th birthday last Friday I managed to get a little bit tipsy pissed out of my foolish face. I had work the next day and waking up at 10:00AM to get into work for 11:00AM was quite a challenge. I drove into work and worryingly realised I was still drunk, so the hangover didn't set in until about 13:00. Me and friend / colleague who had been with me that night responded to our hangovers with McDonald's. Once again, I felt considerably better after that and although things still weren't dandy the grease and fat in McDonald's obviously performed some wonderful absorbing magic within my stomach.
I am also told drinking plenty of water before bed is a good way of helping your body flush all the crap that drinking brings out of your system.

I always try to drink a pint of water just before I go to sleep and I rarely have hangovers when I do that.

Google (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=hangover+cure&sourceid=navclient-ff&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1B3GGGL_enGB268GB268) has some useful tips for preventing a hangover (or at least lowering the symptoms). Particularly this site (http://www.bbc.co.uk/stoke/features/christmas/hangovercures.shtml). I remember it from when I had my first bad hangover, or a similar website anyway.
