What do you mean you have no friends ? No offence but instead of us all trying to feel sorry for yourself you could always make some friends and mates at your school just go upto to them and say can i be your friend go on you don't need to be shy to be honest you could always make friends online as well you know like sites like...

I disagree with these points. If he has no friends and never has then he clearly needs to change. You can play the "best to be yourself" card but alter yourself to be someone decent and then be THAT self, because one would hope no-one's so useless that the best they can be is someone with no friends. Also if you get in with crowds of other loners you'll be stuck with them, and frankly there's a reason they have no friends either - they're likely boring. In my experience these types are actually quite volatile too, and not good friend material.

Thats a really good Idea, I think joining clubs is a great way to meet new people. Surely you sit next to people in school or college, why don't you talk to them?

well, im assuming you lack the confidence to approach people. what you could do is try to improve things you dont like about yourself, because that's where lack of confidence comes from. get some new clothes, or work out, or start playing an instrument or anything that other people will see as good traits. but thats just step one. inevitably, you'll have to start conversing with people, and more likely than not you'll have to strike up the conversation yourself. and don't think you'll have to have some grand conversation that lasts for hours worked out; sometimes just side comments or compliments can show that you're open to talking and lets people know you're approachable.

Joining into a Youth Club is a great idea. I had no friends before, it was nasty. But once I joined the Youth Club I've now got load of friends. But I am still shy for some reason.

It's harsh when you haven't got someone by your side I know. But sometimes a good old talk with your mum or dad can help.

Make sure you don't try ignoring people, that will make them think you don't care. Try being more into convo's then thinking about stuff.

Paranoia can be a problem though. But come over your fears and try yourself out. You only have one life as of yet, make the best out of it. Be yourself, and just change the stuff which could be improved.

A good old smile can help now and again. Give people respect they'll give it back. If they don't then that's their problem, get on with yourself.

well, at the start of my school year i was placed into a year half with nobody i knew and it was hell -- because i was always by myself i was targetted by bullies. i did however seek help and now one of the bullies is a really good friend.

what i did was join lots of clubs at school and that really helped because i got to know loads of people. i know joining a club or organisation by yourself is hard and daunting but nothing could be more dauting than having no friends. try it (:
also, if your school/town has a debating society join that because that is a real confidence builder.

On bebo/myspace/facebook add people from your school/college/workplace and just send a comment like "Hey, how are you?". Join a football team or whatever sports interest you? Go to a library club and talk with people there about what books you enjoy?

Edit: I only have one friend and I love her big time. But in my position I don't really get to make friends in "real life". I'm a "pig" or a "screw". I usually say I'm a computer technician but they always find out so its useless.
