It's that time of the year again - time for the MCM Expo! I know a few people on this forum went last time, so I thought I'd take it upon myself to make the thread for this years expo. The event will take place exactly two months from today, on the 23rd and 24th of May, and is held in the London Excel Centre.

Anyone going again this year? Or perhaps going for their first time? I went last year in May and it was frickin' awesome, but I didn't get to go to the one in October. I'll be attending again this year, however, with the same people I went with last time. I actually can't wait, I'm so restless I want to be there now! We've already got our early entry tickets for both days and hotel booked for friday, saturday and sunday (staying 'til monday - yeah!). Planning to get the train tickets this wednesday, but I hear theres some work being done to the tracks or the trains or something over the Expo weekend, so getting there might be a pain.

Last October, around 30,000 people attended, and they broke the world record for 'most people dressed as video game characters' which was perviously held by Germany. This year they're aparrently making the event even bigger since more people are expected to come. It was already huge and now they're making it bigger, woo.

Anyway, some of you guys have to be going, so let the discussion begin!

My mates dont like anime and dont even know i watch it, the ppl at school who do like anime are weird and are those type of ppl that just wanna be 'original'. Then again, there are the 2 ppl on my road who like it, but they think bleach is god and its better than any other anime ever.

Oh my god! They just confirmed that Leslie Nielsen will be attending the expo! The legend from Airplane! and The Naked Gun! I'm such a huge fan! Can't wait even more now!

Yesss I will be going as usual, havn't bought early entry, hopefully we'll be there early enough not for there not to be a big queue (and it gets my sister in free that way) I have my Yuna costume this year, but I also just bought a luurvely new lolita dress from Camden yesterday so I'm unsure, my sister will be going as Sakura (she has pre and shippuden outfit) so either.. Don't usually get alot of merch apart from sweets.. but I will be there with bells on. :P

We kept pummeling them with valid points, but they believed that anime was and is a 'fad'. After many an argument with the staff, myself and NaughtyNemo were banned. After that we tried the kind approach and they reasoned with us. They added 'anime' into the other entertainment section, basically making it an anime section and unbanned myself shortly after. To this day however, our comrade NaughtyNemo remains permanently banned and rotting in hell. His sacrifice was not in vain.

Nibris had a load of problems with securing a publisher so it kept getting put back. Last I heard was they got one, but that was months ago now. The planned release date is Q4 2009, but I wouldn't be surprised if it never gets released. Nibris announced that they would be at the 2008 Game Developer's Conference but never showed up so that begs the question is it all just a lie? Yesterday they uploaded a new video on their YouTube account, the first in seven months. It revealed two new concept art screens, but that's the only activity from them in months. Aparrently there was mention about them being at E3 this year or something related to it. If there is no news during or after E3 consider the game fake.

Well, it's tomorrow and I'm really ill with the flu. Not going to enjoy it half as much now. -_- Might stay 'til sunday instead of monday as well since I might not survive the weekend! Anyway, I'm off to Leicester Square in a bit to buy myself a ton of manga. Farewell!

Just got back about half an hour ago. We decided not to stay 'til monday because there wasn't much point since the expo ends on sunday. Anyway, this weekend was without a doubt one of the best weekends of my life, even though I was pretty ill on friday and felt sick this morning. Friday we scanned London for all the manga shops, saturday was amazing and we spent the duration of the day at the expo and sunday was also fantastic and again, we spent the duration of the day in the excel centre. We even stayed until after it closed since we were able to get tickets to the cosplay contest this time. There were soooooo many cosplayers and a lot of the cosplay was ******* awesome, but we had camera problems this year and couldn't take any pictures. That pisses me off because all of my wonderful memories of the cosplayers will eventually fade. Over friday, saturday and sunday I spent about £400, which is loads more than I spent the previous year, haha. To my disappointment Leslie Nielsen didn't show up but Craig ******* Charles was there instead! So I didn't even care. Way too much happened for me to even specify one point. Every second was briliant and already I'm despressed that I have to wait another five months until the next expo. How the hell did I wait a year until this one? It was amazing! Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! Why is it over so soon!? I had the time of my life and now nothing else even matters. Forget my above comment about not going to enjoy it half as much. I enjoyed it so much there isn't even a word to explain it. Now to try and find myself on YouTube!
