Yes you can.
And it's subjective. I like FireFox and Chrome. Opera is also decent alond with Safari if you have a Mac (the Windows version isn't so good).

Did you download it for the correct archetecture? x86 is the default and you might need x64. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/worldwide-sites.aspx

I use both IE and FF to make my layouts cross-browser compatible.

Firefox, in my opinion. I enjoy the addons and how it works.
I haven't touched IE for a while, I only use it when I re-install windows and it's the default browser - I download FF right away.
I had been using Google Chrome for a while - I kind of preferred it over Firefox, however there are no plugins/addons as such, so I'm on FF.

Used to use chrome but it had random crashes and didn't have the stability and sexyness that Firefox did. Although chrome is fast I think overall it has to be Firefox.

Opera.

but the thing that chrome does is that each tab has its own process so when one tab crashes, it doesnt break the whole browser.
chrome is nicer looking and easiest to use imo

Yeah I must admit that part was quite awesome specially if I had something important on another tab. I think once it's out of beta and all the lil bits and bobs are done I will probably switch back to it.

I say Firefox for the custombizability (is that a word? :P) of it, however I do find Opera is much faster at rendering pages. I just can't leave my beloved Firefox though.

Is that really important though? Firefox never crashes for me, it can not respond for a few seconds but it will always return and if it closes unexpectedly, it saves your tabs to reopen them.
It's a good feature but it's nothing amazing

its actually one of many features. I read a thing published by google which explained loads of the techinical terms and features chrome has. and yes, it is necessary. just because your in the minority of which a web browser hasnt crashed for you doesnt mean it doesnt.

Use mostly FF with my Mac. Although sometimes I use Safari. Both are great. Can't really tell the difference.

Firefox, Safari or Chrome. NOT IE or Opera.
Why not Opera? I think you've the first person I've seen to completely speak against opera, most people I've spoken to like it or are indifferent.

Chrome's out of beta I believe :)
I use opera and firefox, opera as my main browser because i can't be bothered with having to use firefox addons to make it do some of the things opera does and I like the speed dial, gestures, magic wand etc. Firefox for the sites that aren't compatable with opera for whatever reason.
