The dreaded PPP....

Well, I've always had "Pearly Penile Papules" and thought, zomg i'm a weirdo. But apparently it's quite common (probably not - but that's always reassuring) - and I'm extremely embarrassed about them. However I read this about a treatment for them;

"hough there is no risk to your health, you don’t have to live with them. If you are feeling self-conscious or embarrassed by them, carbon dioxide laser ablation can remove or reduce the appearance of the bumps. Before you cringe at the thought of using a laser “down there,” remember that you do not have to do anything at all. Just know that you have an option.

Though the recovery is a bit painful, it is a rather simple procedure. A dermatologist uses the CO2 laser to carefully vaporize the bumps. There will be some scabbing and swelling, but you should be back to normal in a week or two. But don’t worry. Your doctor will numb the area first with lidocaine. This may not help you with the psychological impact, but it does keep you from feeling the physical impact- at least for a while. Though there are others, the CO2 laser ablation is probably the easiest and most effective method of treatment."

And I'm kinda interested. I'm only 15, but they do affect me and I dont really want to.. keep them. Where should I go to ask about this treatment? Should I book an appointment with my GP? Or am I too young?

I havn't told anyone about this.. I darent tell my parents.. oooh the embarassment. :P

My advice would be to see your GP and explain how they are affecting you. Explain they are getting you down and make you feel really sub-concious, and you've heard there are treatments for it. Your GP may then refer you to a Dermatologist who can perform the treatment.

Anything 'down there' can be embarrassing! but as Garion said, the best bet is to go and see a GP, you could probably even ring them up and ask if you feel a bit embarrassed about going there too.

Wow, coincidence or what. I'm 16 and have these. At first I thought they were genital warts but when I went to the clinic i was mistaken, so relieved though.

I'm sexually active aswell and girls think that there warts, which gets me in an awkward posistion like every time but they don't get me down nor do i neccessarily feel embarrased by them.

They offered me this treatment and i passed, might re-consider now that i'm a year older though. Let me know how it works out im intreagued

Forgot, I haven't got ppp but i've got the more common one 'Fordyce's spot' which is basically the same skin condition as you but not on the head but on the shaft. (If your interested, warning graphical images only click if your mature etc) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fordyce%27s_spot.

According to wikipedia;

"Fordyce's Spots are very common in adult males (50-90%). The condition can appear either as a single lesion or in a symmetrical group of up to one hundred"

There are no cause to the condition and can develop at any age after puberty.

And as my parent were concerned... as soon as i found them i told my mum that i must have warts, she rushed me to a hospital/ clinic can't remember and a female GP (you would think it would be embarrasing but i just don't get embarrassed) looked at them and said it was fordyces spot.

So don't feel embarrassed. Alot of people have them but are too scared to get it cured

It says its not harmful in anyway so I dount you should worrie I think you should get it checked out once your older so noone does find out
