yeah i think they know there is no point, it's damaged now and if they started charging they would just make things worse. they need to let people calm down and then do whatever they can to break it up.
Yeah true. Theres smoke coming out from one of top window...
No arrests at this stage.

why is it happening?
There was a funny bit on the BBC news...
They were zooming in to show the graffiti and they zoomed on one and panned across and it was like..
BANKERS ALL SUK
MONEY IS FOR LOOZERS
INFLATION BULL**** (unfiltered obviously, oops!)
Whats happening in London:
1. Anti banking/capitalist march/protest at the bank of england.
- putting slogans on the building, generally causing a fuss.
2. Anti climate change people marching/protest nearby.
- camping in the middle of the street, causing a fuss too.

Police has taken over RBS :)
13 arrested so far.
why is it happening?
They're demonstrating against the G20 Summit.
A lot of people are doing it because of the bankers are getting richer whilst the rest of the public continue to get poorer in recession.

O NOES MI PRESHUS EARZ!
Looks fun tbh. Wish I was there. Guess driving a 500 mile round trip to attend a climate change or anti-capitalism protest would be a little too stupid even for me.
LOL its focused on a bloke bleeding now shouting at police..
Seems to be kinda under control.
Theyre all chanting now.
EDIT: "A small fire" LOL. when theres a lot of smoke coming from window. small. yeah.
All kicked off AGAIN cos some police left to go somoewhere else its all riot aagain.

I'm failing to understand why there is a protest.
The world leaders are meeting in London to sort our money issues and discuss climate change, yet there is people there to cause havoc for them doing a good job?
If this was in the USA the police would have sprayed them with water or simply fired a gun and threatened to shoot. It's not hard, and it's making the UK look like they can't handle a few people. Pathetic.

Exactly what I was thinking to be honest Matt. Why bother? Won't change anything, the world leaders are hear to discuss and plan changes and all these lot do is protest. I agree about the USA bit, they would probably deal with the protests much better then what we are doing now.

Making fires now leaving more work for the police, making them look even more stupid that they can't handle their own country.
Starting a fire? Get a grip on life, people.
Glad I'm not having a weekend down south..

It's their own fault for taking out huge loans from banks and not realising you have to pay it back or something. America caused the recession. This is what happens when countries are given independence =l
omg, something on sky news :/
the police charged forward hitting and there were like 4 people on the floor, one of them looked like a child and a policeman ran forward, went back and wacked one of them on the head 3 times :/
Something bad is gonna happen
I cant beleive the police tbh. They were told to 'go foward and hit anyone' i just saw them hit a woman and child to the floor and then go back and hit a potogropher on the head...!
and serious LOL at the drum and bass ravers in middle of crowd lmaoo

She deserved it, what kind of woman takes a child to a riot?:S
it might not have been a child. And maybe they were trying to get somewhere or they live nearby?

This is what happens when countries are given independence =lThat's the complete wrong attitude to have towards the recession, it may well be true that it was triggered in the US because of their banks however our banks were no better and completely out of control, lending far too much to people who wouldn't pay it back. The economy had been doing well previously and because we had some fool as Chancellor, he didn't save any money at all but was still borrowing when the economy was doing well so that's why we're in a **** position for the recession, I'm afraid we can't just blame America.

Hmmm, not sure where to stand with this. I barely understand the whole G20 stuff (I live in a hole). I can see why people are protesting, but at the same time it is in a way their fault and what some of them doing, like the violent attacks on the RBS building won't prove anything other than there are aload of grotty kids out there (metaphorically) that want their own way and will make it difficult to get their own way because now they've made a mess which needs cleaning up now too.
I find it absolutely hilarious and remarkably hypocritical that these protesters are behaving in the way they are. The whole protest - the need for a massive police response, the damage caused, the clean up operation etc - is going to cost masses of money; and yet these people are protesting because of the recession? IF YOU DIDN'T BEHAVE LIKE SUCH FOOLS WE'D HAVE A LITTLE MORE MONEY.

But its not a lot of money needed on resources compared to the amount of power people have to change it. If this happened more often then the government would have to do something.

Wrong. We decide who the government is, and after that they can essentially do what they want. Obviously there are restrictions, but what I am saying is that the government will simply batter down such protests and go about their business doing what they believe needs doing. Violent protests will merely incite the government to become more harsh on those that behave in that way.

No, In extreme circumstances the government HAVE to change because if there's so many wanting change, they'll have to do it.
Such as today, putting people in danger and vandalism, if it continues, they will continue and with the current climate it looks like its going to happen again. The protesters are doing the same tomorrow.

This anarcho-communists don't know what politics is.
They're deluded, stupid, uneducated people who don't know that anarchy has always failed e.g Spain
I don't mind them expressing their views but doing it violently just isnt right, especially when their views ARE wrong

I was trying to be a poor person and use scapegoats. Speaking of which I'm surprised the BNP haven't taken this opportunity to claim all "non-indigenous" Britons are bankers. They really are nazis with no political cunning.
And they will be battered down further. For sure.
Yes, a few more times but sooner or later they will have to change unless we get out of this situation which isnt going to happen for a long time!
well actually, im sure only a few people got violent but when people start pushing and shoving you, your natural instinct is to run or fight back. Either one of these will result in a subsequent effect.
But youre narrow mindedness thinking that they are wrong and you are right needs to be changed

Exactly. Two people running away causes 4 people to run and be shoved causing more to do it and then it turns into a stampede with loads of people fighting!

What's the current situation? Still people there?
They all need to learn they can't have their own way all the time tbh..
On the subject of the woman and child getting hit, so what? The police have been given orders to move people back, and if those two people want to fight back at the police (and the law) then they're gonna be hit. It's their own fault.
I'm going there on Saturday. Also if they're protesting about money maybe they shouldn't be sto stuipd because they whole police opperation have cost 17.5 million of tax payers money. Idiots :)!

I agree 100%, most of the protest was made up of students who just wanted to be coolcool rebels and don't seem to realise that their student loans are out the window if the banks go down. I can't stand that kind of person.
