Well,

I'm currently on their 20mb package waiting to be upgraded to 50mb and I done some google searching before I brought it to find out if it was any good and it being Virgin Media it sounds brilliant expecially with no capping limits as of yet I went for it and was hit with a £80 installation fee which after some puppy eyes around mum I got out of her and ordered it but I also saw a few people didn't pay it anyone on the package and have to pay the £80 fee or pay nothing at all or a fee less than that?

Just so you know it's going on the STM networks soon.

I think the people who didn't have the £80 installation fee are the ones who got it as a part of the trial.

IMO I do not see the point in 50MB yet... Simply because a lot of servers in datacentres have 10Mbit port on them and you can only download as fast as the server can handle. I also think that the more people get 50MB the more congested the network will become and nobody will get the 50MB (well anywhere near that speed).

It might not be, they're using this period as a trial to see if STM is needed, and from what I can see in my area it isn't, I'm pretty sure quite a few people round here are on 50mb and there are never any slowdowns, I guess that's one of the benefits of DOCSIS 3.

That's just the cable technology used to connect you to VM's system, nothing to do with the capacity of their backbone network.

Fail.
It's not like im downloading from download.net all day the only downloading I do is from RapidShare and Virign Media unlike some.. *COUGH* Be *COUGH* dont just accept a ton of customers and than go oh no our network is congested they upgrade and prepare first seen as VM never runs slow unless you get capped.

Wow you sounded like some fanboy of ClubHabbo then...

Firstly Brad, I said IMO which mean IN MY OPINION. So I never "Failed".

Secondly, Be* wasn't the company which congested the network which is on BT Wholesale. It was o2 Access.

Thridly, I didn't mean you directly about the downloading I meant in general.

Fourthly its download.com :P

Fifthly, Virgin Media like every company will keep accepting more orders. It's called business... Just like you and money, if someone kept offering you money everyday you wouldn't reject it would you? ;)

People forget that the UK has a very old infrastructure for internet which is costly and time consuming to upgrade so it's being upgraded slowly.

I wish France had the same thing as the UK, the town our internet came from got it removed so now the thing is miles away and I can only get 50 kbs download on a 20mb line. It's ****.

Ok..
I wasn't speaking about clubhabbo but ok whatever makes you happy.

"Firstly.." Even if you did "IMO" your chris and shank **** so you failed.
"Secondly" Be are the one who let them use their network.
"Thirdly" Ye downloading is sexy though even you cant deny that one :P
"Fourthly" woman donwload.net is a woman in the garden so that one is better
"Fithly (LOL) :P" Yes but they will sort out their network BEFORE it gets congested rather than the Be* route of letting it happen first than do maintenance.

It's not looking so good for our flat in terms of broadband I mean we might need up with superfast pro 512kb DIAL UP! :O .. now starting to Hate Be* more everyday. Hell i'd rather have AOL in our flat which is bad. (No offence to people with AOL)

Also.. To what you said a min ago I think we should move to another country and be all pro with our outfits for that country raving with the one and only.. GLOW STIKZ!!! and get a like 100mb connection ;]

Please explain your reasons for hating Be*. They actually have less people on their network per unit capacity than most other UK ISPs. It's just that the customers of Be* tend to be very heavy users. The recent problems were only localised areas of extreme slowness. Yes, it's got slower overall in general recently, but is still significantly faster on average than most other UK ISPs.

It's BT wholesale, but it does get filtered into the Be* network at the end after going through all of BT Wholesale's rubbish.

Where is the fastest net connection in the world?

Edit: Guessing it's Japan, right?

40Gbps optical fiber and 100Gbps ethernet is very nearly finished in development i think. The most people have on residential connections is usually 1Gbps. Japan, the Scandinavian countries and a few parts of Canada I think.

I'd imagine they can handle it seeming as they're trialling 400Gbps from Manchester to London.

Where'd you hear this? 400Gbps is basically the whole capacity of LINX.

Every server I have bought has either had a 100mbps dedicated port (UK) or a 1gbps dedicated port (US) not burst... I think thats a bad comment to make. What about sites that don't use single servers? Torrents (example) can use all of that bandwidth and go higher.

I agree that the network may get conjested, as it happened in my area when more people started getting the 20mbit service... although they fixed it within 2 months by introducing new local connection points and better servers. Lets hope VM have this planned, as they really need to get their reputation back up, as since they bought out NTL and Telewest they seem to get really bad reviews. Although, personally, they have been great.
