Neither because there's better out there?

iPod Touch? Not really much use, I'd rather get a iPod Classic which is far better for music and videos and can hold a lot more for better value. If I wanted to browse the internet or use the applications I'd get an iPhone or just any smartphone as they offer just as much (and more!). And if I wanted the gaming I'd rather have a DS or preferably, Sony PSP which is far superior to the DS and iPod Touch for gaming.

You do realise you can browse the internet and use the same apps on the iPod touch right?

The PSP has a very limited array of games, most of the decent ones are in the same genre. Both the iTouch and the DS are a lot more creative and imaginative than the PSP which is why the PSP isnt selling anywhere near as much.

Personally if you want a real gaming device I would go for the DS because it has a lot more in depth games but if you are really looking for a device that you can play a quick few games on the bus on your way to school or college then go for the iTouch.

The iPod Touch is extremely poor value and is just a gimic which everyone's bought into, any real music/video fan would get an iPod Classic.

The internet is far better on the iPhone as you can use the 3G networks rather than just being stuck with wifi which isn't practical on the iPod Touch. And the applications mostly aren't needed or can be replicated easily on another smartphone, they don't offer anything particularly good.

Nintendo DS has a poor choice of games, it's all just super ******* mario and brain-training (For the record, brain training isn't gaming). The reason it's sold well is because people think they'll get clever by using it when in reality it takes dedication to actually become 'cleverer' by using it, it's been proven a crossword each day is just as useful. Sony PSPs have always offered browsers unlike the new DSi, so you could pick-up a 1G Sony PSP which is only about £60 these days and you have a far better selection of games and a browser, and you've also saved £90.

Are you being serious?! :P

As much as I dislike the DSi...

DSi is MADE for games?
It can now play music with it's inbuilt music player
It can play videos quite easily (DS cards or SD cards)
DSi isn't that big - it can fit in your pocket quite easily.

Im sorry but the browser on the PSP is nothing to be proud of, its virtually unuseable (Yes I do have a PSP, i've had one since "day one"). At first I thought it was amazing but after the novelty of the good graphics wore off I found it poor at the very best. I also own a DS and an iPod touch (not a DSi or Lite though) and from a gaming perspective the DS wins hands down over the iTouch but in terms of multimedia the iTouch wins easily.

Yeh, im well stuck cos the DSi looks pretty coool and can play music, play videos, go on games and its the right size.

Ipod touch is good size and can play music and it has some cool games and internet.

Its really hard but does anyone have both and compare which has the best internet?

They are same price. Anyway, who has both and can weigh them both up?

The iPod touch will have a better browser. At the end of the day its down to you. Which is more important for you, multimedia or games?

If you want to just listen to some MP3s on the bus or something and mainly want to play games then get a DSi.

If you want to mainly listen to music, watch videos or browse the internet and play the occassional game then get an iPod touch.

You probably won't see any of those comparisons on the internet because one is a portable media player (that happens to be able to play some games) and one is a gaming device (that can play limited amounts of media). If your DS is breaking get the DS Lite rather than the DSi because it'll be far cheaper and you get the GBA slot which means if you're feeling really pikey you can go on ebay and get 2 tonnes of GBA games on the cheap :D

I am fairly certain the DSi can do all of them too :P Actually, it has one up on the Touch and that's the camera. But I'd choose the Touch if I had to, but that's because I've already got a DS though the Touch has nothing on music and video capability with my MP3 player anyway. Apple dropped music standards in favour of looks and functionality, if the play around I had with a friend's touch is anything to go by.

I've got a iPod touch and its really good although if you get one get the 32 gig, I got a 16 and I wish I waited longer and got a 32 gig but either way it’s really good, games on it are really fun, yeah not amassing graphics but there all really fun, the only game I paid for was touch grind for £3 I think and it was worth it played on that for hours and still do. Another plus is how thin it is. Only down sides are there’s no memory card slot and that you have to pay like 20-30 quid to get a case for it.

Tbh if you want something for gaming don’t go for a hand held console, if you want something fun to play, pretty easy to get into and great fun with family and friends get a Wii + Wii fit, if its more hardcore gaming go for a 360 or PS3.

The 32GBs can't hold that much movies and music, especially when there's a cheaper 120GB iPod classic.

Graphics aren't that good and you even said yourself there's only one decent game worth buying so you've spent £270 on an iPod Touch which you probably only use for one game, music and videos? Not good value at all.

My friend has a touch and while it is slightly overpriced, its versatility and sheer elegance can make up for it. I played with it a bit and everything just works so well, loads of thought has gone into the UI and it shows. I'd even argue that it's easier to navigate through music than the classic because of the flick scrolling and the relative accuracy of using your finger as opposed to a wheel.

If you look at it, as you're doing, as cost-per-gigabyte, the touch seems like an overpriced rolls royce made of gold. But if you look at the bigger picture and take into account the fact that it isn't just a media player, it suddenly gains a lot of value and almost makes it worth the money you pay for it. £20 or £30 less and it'd be a no brainer imo.

He didn't say there's only one game worth buying at all. He said he's only bought one game. There's a massive difference.

Imo the ipod touch is much better, I absolutely love mine. I wish I'd waited a bit longer and gotten the 32gb though, I filled mine up pretty quickly with apps and games, all of which I still use. I've tested the DSi a tiny bit, it's nothing compared to the touch.

Ive already got a Wii and WiiFit at £60, nah.

Also my Ipod Nano just broke :( Also my normal DS is fine but a bit old.

Anyway, i can't buy both because its for birthday and the rest of my money is used for wii games. Although not sure if i should get Xbox360.

Tricky but i wanna get the Ipod Touch but for some reason just cos there are so many new things on the DSi i am curious.

Tricky decision.

Xbox 360 beats them all (cause' you posted above you wanted a 360?)

But yeah, iPod Touch is better than the DSi, I have the DSi, and tbh I am very disappointed with it.

I wouldn't buy the iPod Touch for gaming, period. I would only buy the DSi if I didn't have a DS. Well, I wouldn't buy it anyway because I recently sold my DS – I don't get time to play with it.

To draw an over-simplified distinction, the iPod Touch (albeit a fantastic piece of kit) is a glorified music (and to some extent video) player with minigames. I'll never accept the iPod Touch as a true gaming device in its current incarnation. The DSi (like the DS) is open to a huge library of titles. And guess what? It has buttons!

It depends on you, ultimately. Would you use it often? Would you use it for only a few minutes here and there? Do you like deep immersive titles which can take your attention for well over 30 hours? Is the music more important than the gaming? Is size an issue? These are all personal questions, and only you can decide them.

If you've already got a DS then get the iPod touch for sure. By getting a DSi you would only benifit from the DSware games and the limited amount of camera software. I love my iPod and DS equally but if you already have a DS then the iPod is the one for you.

Get a DS, not DSi, then get a R4 card, then download games from romulation.net, then you can play all the games for just the price of a card.

DSi aren't compatiable with the R4 Cards.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but what card should I get for DS Lite?

I'm buying it for my brother and don't own a DS so this is an area I've never ventured into. I asked my friend who has one, and he told me to be careful when buying R4, as some call themselves R4DS or R4SDHC. I'm so confused...

Preferred digimartz, it was much cheaper :)
