Mandalay Pictures has acquired theatrical rights to and will develop a big-screen version of "Full Metal Panic," a Japanese manga series that blends action, comedy and high school romance.
Zac Efron's name has surfaced in connection with "Panic," with the actor holding a conversation on the project. Efron, already a heartthrob among the teen audiences to whom the project could appeal, is also honing the action-adventure side of his career with a potential attachment to the Warner Bros. adventure "Jonny Quest."

If it wasn't enough to ruin one of the best anime series around they have to go and mention Zac Efron. If he stars in this film I will have to kill someone.
The Hit List
Dragon Ball
Full Metal Panic!
Akira
Robotech
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Cowboy Bebop
Death Note
Avatar
Ninja Scroll
Saint Seiya
Ghost in the Shell
Wow... just wow. All of those animes above are going to be turned into live action films by Hollywood. Oh and Astro Boy is being made into an animated movie also by Hollywood. How long before plans for a Full Metal Alchemist movie pop up?

FMA wouldn't be to bad, depending they got the right actors.
Also, stop complaining you whiny little git. If you don't like the idea of it being live action or that they changed the story or they have bad actors, don't watch it and give everyone a rest. They won't ruin the anime, it'll be there just as you remember it, just make it more western for people that don't like watching anime.

1. I can whine if I want to whine. Complaining is what makes the world go 'round. Same could be said to you though.
2. Who said I was going to watch it anyway?
3. They will ruin the anime. Look at the bad name the Dragon Ball movie has given the series. The only movie that'll work is the Avatar one since that's already for a Western audience. Live action anime films should be left to Japan. If Zac Efron plays the lead role I'll never be able to look at the anime the same way again - ruined, y'see!

1. I'm not whining, I'm telling you to stop.
2. Exactly my point, why do you act like they're robbing you of your memories if you're never going to see it? Grow up and stop being so Wapanese.
3. The movie didn't give Dragon Ball a bad name, there are more that remember the anime more than the movie, the anime will continue to get shown on TV the movie will not be remembered.

1) Stop because you dont like it, therefore whining.

3) Yeh but newer people will never watch it simply because of it
AND OH GOD NO NOT FMP!!!! I LOVED IT SO MUCH! And zac efron...? They might have been able to make it somewhat work (doubt it), but zac efron..... o god.

If the movie is ****, people will stereotype the anime as **** aswell. It's an easy concept to grasp Niall o_O.
But yeah, one of my favourite animies will be ruined by Zac Efron GARGH!!!!

Hey Nail, so I heard Hollywood is making a live action movie of the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya next, and that girl from High School Musical is going to play the lead role. Plus Zac Efron has been cast as Kyon.
Don't act like that wouldn't be painful! Even you'd have to hate the thought of it.

The thing is. Live actions arent always bad, i did enjoy the Death note ones. but americanised films is when they get bad. aslong as they stay close to the manga/anime then im happy but when they go around changing things is when i hate it. Despite how crap the dragonball movie is i already know tons of people who are going to see it.
Just dont download or watch it that wahy you cant be disapointed.

You're the only person I know of that likes those damn Death Note movies. :P That's Japanese live action though, they're not always that bad (Mushishi, Battle Royale, etc). I decided last week that I'm not going to bother seeing the Dragon Ball movie, it's an embarrasment. I can't believe their budget was actually only $45 million when the production was first reported to have $100 million. It has reached the top of the box office in like five countries already as well. Thanks to the success, the second movie was recently greenlit. :P

Also, I had completely forgotten until now, but New Line Cinema have had a live action adaption of Monster in development for ages. I haven't heard anything on the project since 2007, but aparrently it's being released this year. Although the project seems dead to me. The screenplay was written by Josh Olson though, who was nominated for an Oscar for his screenplay on another graphic novel turned live action movie. So they have the best possible person for the job... but still - project seems dead.

Well monster i can really see as a live action movie, but it'd still have to be done well.

Lmaooooooo!
I still haven't seen Monster but if China was making the movie then Jackie Chan would actually be the perfect choice for the role. He wouldn't be good in a Hollywood version since his limited English vocabulary wouldn't allow him to act his full potential. Jackie is 100 times better in his Chinese movies than he in his American ones simply because of his acting in Chinese. In his recent, more darker films it's been so good!
The worst part of that was that Zac Efron was mentioned.

The death note series already got turned into a series of three films.
1. Its from when Light gets the Death Note up until he joins the investigation with L.
2. Its from the Investigation with L into some horrible ending thats nothing like the anime.
L writes his own name into the death note the night before Light writes L's name in. Light then gets shot and Ryu likes the anime writes Lights name into the death note.
3. Upon the ending of the third film Light had 90 or so days to live. He then fought some sort of illness/bioweapon and met Mello and Near.
Really poor.
I hear its being made for a western audience though. The japanese one was horrible so I guess stabbing it once more isnt going to do any worse.

Discovered yesterday that they're making a live action movie of the anime/manga 'Battle Angel Alita'. I've been planning to read it for ages, I hear the manga is one of the best. It's being directed by the same guy who did Titanic and Terminator (1 & 2), and he seems to be a huge fan of the series and plans to follow the manga as directly as possible. Maybe this certain live action adaption might be worth watching...
