All I want is a little job to earn a little bit of money. I have been looking at shops in my local shopping centre but they are asking for "experience". I am 16 and looking for my first job, but I have no idea where to start.
Any advice?

When your 16 you can get a job in asda as my sister did, she was getting like £450 a month there.

I would suggest a paper round as little cash but as you're 16 you should be able to get a job almost in any retail shop really. You would only get minimum wage though but it should do you fine.
Put together a CV and just hand them in anywhere and everywhere in your local town centre and area's nearby and it shouldn't be long before you get a call.

any supermarkets near you? they're doing better than ever now their competitors are going out of business one by one. So im sure they'll be taking on new staff
print off 50 cvs and just drop them off at places in your town or local town. fast food restaurants have a big turnover.
I need a job, I might apply for asda again although they knocked me back before but hired my friend cos her dad works there irl

Most 16 year olds serve food in pubs or serve alcohold behind the bar
What I did was payed £150 to sit a course to become a qualified life gaurd. I passed and I made back the £150 in a week

no u dont :S
i know alot of people at are 17 that work in restraunts behind bars sometimes
Your 'experience' doesn't neccessarily have to be you working in a working enviroment.
Working in say a shop you might have to have experience of a difficult customer.
Write down about your real life experiences such as if you had a falling out with your friend, how you resolved it calmly and assertivley.

Yes you do, thats why a lot of supermarkets won't let under 18's go on the tills. If your friends (under the age of 18) work behind bars serving alcoholic drinks then their employer is breaking the law.

You have to be eighteen to serve alcohol, surely?
In supermarkets you can be 17 and sell it, though you have to be situated near a superviser and they must observe the purchase.

Yes, something along that! :D
Check out JobCentrePlus and see if there's anything that will suit your needs, if your CV is good there's nothing to worry about, also try cab offices etc, because they pay people to dish out cards in peoples post boxes etc so that they can get some work, like when you walk home from school just post cards in peoples boxes :P

It's hard to find a Job and keep it in these difficult economic times!
Brother is on the verge on losing his job at BT.
Anyway, i know some college students who work at Asda, you probably don't need to worry about ruffling up a CV.

That is what happens and was the reason why I was put on tills mostly with people under age of 18
Good luck finding a job, but summer jobs may start appearing next month as the summer holidays are soon. Just a thought :P
Shops should be accepting you at your age for small work.
But if they are not, try cafes in supermarkets as they seem to be good contenders to employee anyone (no offence intended).
Hope that helped :)
