Hey, I've been downloading iDeneb 1.4 on my 100mbit VPS and it's almost done. My plan is to then zip it up and direct download it to my own PC. Anyway, has anyone done / tried to do this on a PC and what was the outcome. I'm going to try this on a new partition on my Lenovo 3000 C100 - A terrible spec laptop. Lol.

Thanks.

Yes, it works OK apart from sound, be prepared to hack around to get everything working.

I used iPC.

(osx86 not hackintosh btw! :()

Yep, sorry, that's what I meant. + Yeah, I think iDeneb will be ok, it has all the drivers I need like the realtek stuff, the intel graphics etc. If I don't like it, I'll simply wipe my computer or just delete the partition and re-do my boot sector.

I done it on mine and I used Kalyway, everything worked, didn't have to download any kexts, but I was lucky. Use iPC for extra compatibility.

What is iPC and Kalyway and all these other variations of OSx86 :S?

They are just different versions of the OS with different options on installing. iPC looks to be one of the best because of all the non-apple drivers it comes with on the disc. Ive got a kalyway install that isn't very reliable, so I'm going to reinstall later and see what this issue may be.

Burned it to a disk, but I am having trouble partitioning with my usual program. I'm downloading another and I'll try this.

Yes, I used it as my main OS for a few months, got bored, needed more power and finer control, switched back to Vista as my main OS, haven't looked back since.

Installed it twice, so far:

First time with defaut settings, never worked - Had non-stop 'you need to restart' error.
Second time with new settings but wrong video drivers, would start but after load - blue screen instead of desktop.
I'm now trying again, I got my video card details and a eeepc tutorial, which I'll follow, even though it's not my make or model.

You should be going over to www.insanelymac.org forums, and reading the wikis. This isn't just an install and run OS, it's not going to be perfect at all and it requires a lot of hacking around to get it to run how you like it. It's not worth it tbh.

Ok, iDeneb doesn't have the GCard driver I needed so I'm downloading iPC now as that has the driver, apparently. Wish me luck.

I don't think people realise you have to be competant at installing OS' that were made for your computer before you go and try and install OSX. If your not tech savvy, its not something you would want to try.... so much can go wrong.

You need to format the partiton you made by going into disk manager in the install disk. If you're getting stuck at this point then seriously give up.

Indeed, I researched for a long time on this and now I know exactly what to do.

Damn, this torrent is going so slow. It was fine this morning at 200kbps, but now 30kbps is a joke. Seriously.

Stop complaining, I downloaded it with a speed of 20 kb/s and a peak of 90kb/s.

I broke my partitions :/.

I'll install macdrive later and recover my files. Since I think it's just the mbr/bootloader I busted OSX side.

Yeah that's what happened to me when I tried to dual-boot with Windows XP and Mac OS X. I was kind of gutted... It only broke XP though so it's all good. :P
