HxF Awards
Awards would be there to show the acomplishments you have achieved on your time at habbox forum. Alot of fansites use the award system and I dont see why Habbox couldnt get them either. Im sure that amazing graphics team at Habbox could produce alot of funky badges for people to win.
Here are some from habborater.

Although I'd use a 1000+ post award rather than a 100+ post award.
Some guys in the habbox helpdesk said it would be neat so I thought why not put it out there.
Sorry if its been posted before and been shot-down, but I'd rather see a reason rather than being told its been shot-down before.
Here are some more examples from ClubHabbo.

It's a good idea but I think it's been reccomended before and shot down.
Tbh they'd do nothing for me but good idea nonetheless.

I dont see a reason why we could use them  unless they require extreme amounts of coding etc.

they're babyish, besides, you don't need to be told your immense :8

Ardemax if your worred about the design, if the awards ever do get implimented you can chat to the Graphics team or whoever would be making them.
I think its a really creative idea that could add something new to the forum, I know we have reputation and ranking etc however I think it would be more lively if we had other things such as member of the month or some wacky ideas.
Also, I'm sure the graphics team could make awards not look tacky?

As said above, it has been suggested many times and i personally don't like them at all.
Okay, can you share some reasons why you dont want this feature on the forum?

I think everybody's main concern is the look. I went onto an xbox fansite forum and found awards that are not as habbo-ish.

Yeah, you could change it all to fit any kind of look really. or even this on a normal discussion forum. http://www.tentonhammer.com/system/files/images/TTH_Forum_Awards.jpg

It's a great idea, habboxforum should do it.

No, they look terrible in the postbit and take up too much room.
RareFish
11-04-2009, 03:42 PM
They hardly take up any room at all?
I think if we make them small enough to fit in then they will look fine and if anything, enhance it. Aslong as we get the right size and look.
eugh. Please no :P
They look tacky and ruin the postbit. They just look generally stupid :)
RareFish
11-04-2009, 03:44 PM
That would be another designing issue.
1 - They are not allowed to look tacky/childish
2 - They are not allowed to take up a huge ammount of space
Dont tell me your getting lazy conz. Doing a couple of adjustments would hurt would it?
Yes, a lot do look tacky however i'm sure the graphics designers could make it not tacky!
I think its something extra to look at and nicer. Also, they could make it the size of a badge or even smaller.
Yoshimitsui
11-04-2009, 03:56 PM
If you put them in the post-bit they look ugly and just clutter it up. They also have to be given out and serve no real purpose other than just being on a profile and taking up room.
RareFish
11-04-2009, 03:57 PM
Is it possible to only apply them to your profile page?
You could have a person or two that is in charge of giving out awards so it wouldn't take time off other staff members.
RareFish
11-04-2009, 04:02 PM
Lew I think the main issue is the design and the way they clutter the post-bit. I dont think the staff is the main issue.
Yeah, but I'm just saying because they have to be given out and fm etc have a lot to deal with. But yeah, it could be implemented into people's profiles etc.

The awards wouldn't clutter up the postbit at all. I have seen other forums with the same postbit. As long as you don't abuse them awards they will look fine

Examples of how other fansites use the award system.
Once again Habzilla and ClubHabbo.
We could place it below the rep power like Habzilla and keep all the information on the right. We'd need to remove the useless information like Blogs, Location and gender.
http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/9996/lookx.png
or place all the information under our avatar's like ClubHabbo. We'd need to take out the usless information though like blogs, location and gender so we could have space for them.
http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/6062/skaterchu.png
The main reason that everybody is hating this idea is because they think the badges for the awards look tacky which can be easyily changed. The other reason it that people think it takes up too much space. The whole blog idea, gender and locations part of the post-bit seem like a huge waste of space. I think that we should remove the rubbish and place the award scheme there. We should keep the post count, Habbo username and join date obviously. Surely it could'nt take up that much space?
Yeah, You could even limit the awards shown to like two, and then when you view their profile you could see the full list of them.

We'd need to take out the usless information though like blogs, location and gender so we could have space for them. That's not useless information, it's a hell of a lot more informative than a load of badges. If badges were to be added, it would look terrible for the users with the postbits at the top of the post as opposed to the left like on ClubHabbo, etc.
All in all, this idea has been submitted hundreds of times and it's always been rejected for the same reason, it's not needed.
I dont think gender and blogs etc are that important, I'd prefer to see awards as its more interesting to look at. Such as member of the month, or most posted user this month or most active. its just interesting and entertaining to look at.

Locations, Genders and Blogs are all on your profile page so I dont see why they need to be shown on your post-bit?

To be honest, I like looking at where people are from, but it wouldn't make any difference tbh. It wouldn't bother me as I would much prefer to see things such as awards!

Seeing where people are from isn't special at all. I'd rather see archivements people have done too

Good idea but then habbox would be like other sites, maybe if they had a habbox touch or something. Why have a badge when your name says what you are, like vip, donator, staff.
RareFish
11-04-2009, 05:58 PM
Marucho, please before you all comment read the previous posts. We would find a way for it not to look tacky.
Molly thats a usertitle. The usertitle is a tiny area. The award area would also be a space for you to show that your staff, you've won a competition, you've given to charity etc.
I think with the layout of the forum having badges just wouldn't work. I think changing our layout to something similar to Club Habbo is a step too far. Even if we find a way to make our badges look less tacky, I still don't think they really fit into habbox. And the idea of getting rid of "useless information" like Gender and Location. I mean, what the hell? They are the most useful pieces of information on a poster. If we moved them to profiles it would make having a conversation much harder.
I think this is just another way of trying to be like CH and tbh I think habbox is fine with the features we have at the moment.

Rozi please, like any of us would even want to be affiliated with CH.
Forum Moderator please close this thread as its obviously not going to work. Some think we should get Awards, most dont.

I think we should have it - but just on our profiles.
Like under a new section (eg. Visitor messages, about me, Statistics, infractions, awards etc.) :)
Yeah, I think even if we had a box in our profiles it would be fine. It would be a way to show that you've been the most active member in the habbo forum or something. I just think there an interesting way of spicing up the forum, not necessarily in our posts but an extra tab on our profile. What would be so bad about adding a tab onto your profile showing your achievement's?

That sounds fine but then they'll just get forgotten tbh. I really don't see the need for more competition than rep and post count on this forum. The only plus side I can really see is it might give new members more incentive to keep active, but its not like we're lacking on the members front.
I think if we keep the range of achievements fresh then there will always be something new to achieve. I also don't think it will be forgotten as-long as it is updated and things to achieve.

HabboxForum has done well without them, we don't need them.
Simples ;)
They are incredibly tacky and make the Forum look vile. In my opinion :P.
I made a thread about this like 2 months ago :( It failed :(

This has been posted several times and it has appeared through several attempts the general sentiment of forum users has been against this idea for a myriad of reasons, not only because it will look tacky. Some dislike the entire concept behind it and feel that Habbox is too achievment oriented already (given the rep and post count craze of times past and present), others think its too conformist, others would rather keep other profile postbits.
If substantial support is shown for the awards then we may consider putting up a forum-wide poll to assess the popularity, as a matter of fact we may do that anyway to lay it to rest once and for all.
But, that being said, I think the point of tackyness and taking up space has been beaten to death and the original poster has conceded the point. So unless you want to support the ideas of adding awards then leave it be and let the thread fall into inactivity since several of you have already succeeded in crushing the spirit of a well-meaning user who tried to put forth an idea just because he had a different opinion than you ;)

I am up for forum awards, but only if they didnt look tacky, but i am quite sure the graphics team would make them look good ;)
Awards wouldn't be such a bad addition but it'd have to be pretty customizable for whoever sets it up, limit it so if it they show up on the post bit it'll only display two recent ones or something as good as it'd be to have a visual of achievements it's really not nessercary since people can see if you've reached 1000 posts or 5 bars of rep or how long you've been a member, things like member of the month, funniest member of the month etc. would be the only awards worth giving and that just adds alot of work for the moderators to keep nominating people for different awards, I normally like the idea of awards to achieve on forums but really I don't see much purpose as the work load for some people on habbox is bad enough, that just adds to the list of things moderators and other staff have to do.
i think it'd be cool but on the profiles or something
RareFish

The idea of cluttering the profile bit makes me cringe.
Would it be possible to have a poll across the forum to see what everybody thinks of the idea? :-)
Personally I think they are tacky, they are pointless and also result in many unnecessary queries for every page load slowing down the forums. We also don't have much to "award" a use for.
