Hey, I was wondering who takes up the hobby of stamp collecting on this forum. Its quite intresting actually, like i've invested 100.00 pound in Stanley Gibbons collection and I've already made a 10% return. People say invensting in stamps is safer than banks. My brother used to collect stamps when he was alive and I've sort of carried on his hobby (Like I have any clue though lol). What about you ?

It is a very fascinating hobby, I have recently retired however from the world of stamp collecting.
I'm sure 100s of users on this forum are keen Stamp Collectors though and once they see this thread you will have loads of new buddys to show and trade stamp with.
Good luck stamp collecting Jimi!

Sounds quite good if you get money for it.

I used to, my gran has about £40 pounds worth of 1970-85 stamps. Worth a bit more now of what she payed then i suppose.

Though i do collect coins occasionally.

I don't do it myself but anything you can get money from is good.

The value of stamps rises every year by a percentage not sure what percent though. People buy stamps and then leave them for like 10 years and then sell them they make huge profits from it. People say stamps are more safer investment than banks even in the recession the value of stamps is going up.

I tried when I was little, but though I can see an appeal to it, I got into other hobbies instead- I collected stamps because I had lots of penfriends from all over the world and the stamps were interesting. Perhaps I shouldn't have thrown them away.

So do I, if someone brings a foreign coin into work (bakery) and it looks good, i'll normally give the bosses the equivalent in Aussie coins..

I've got a few pounds, a sixpence(??), quarters, kiwi coins, fiji coins, etc.

Its interesting collecting stuff.
