Has anyone taken any of the Microsoft certifications? I am taking the MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist) exam tomorrow numbered 70-620, which is "Configuring Windows Vista Client".

Nah, I've not taken any Microsoft exams, but I'm looking to take the Zend PHP 5 certification exam in a few months.

Good luck with your exam Tim! :).

I just passed :) Got a respectable 850/1000, pass mark was 700 so I was well in! :) Onwards and upwards - gonna go for Microsoft IT Professional Enterprise Support Technician next!

Have to be 18 to take these?

Can anyone tell me what's beneficial about getting Microsoft Certified? Sounds like a scheme for them to make money by charging you to get certified, though I've never really looked into it.

Nope, don't have to be 18.

The benefit of these qualifications is for fun if you're into that sort of thing, and it may well help to improve your knowledge and career prospects, and they tend to be quite specific qualifications which will look good on your CV.

Nice one :) I'm planning to take exam 70-622 next, which is about Deploying and Configuring Applications on a Windows Vista Client for Enterprise Support Technicians :) Should be a bit more difficult, but a challenge is good!

If I pass that, I will be a Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Enterprise Support Technician :)

They are the weirdest exam numbers I have ever seen... What exactly happens in these exams? I can't picture it being a written one but a practical one seems unpractical for people to run around to exam centres. Sounds interesting none-the-less and the qualifications would look good on a CV :)

The examinations are done on a computer in a testing program. Most of it is multiple choice questions, mainly where you pick one answer and some where there are multiple answers you have to pick to get the mark.

There are also simulations where you are given a task and an emulated version of Vista, and you have to carry out a specific task in Vista.

Sounds good :) Although the multiple choice questions seem to make it easier, but written answers may prove to be a waste of time. Is the emulated part of the exam the higher marking section?

You pay for it and what do you get from it?

If your looking at a job in IT it looks quite good on your CV basically LOL

Ok. I was just saying people could probably know everything they test you on before you take the test, therefore pointless?

I just tried some game on the MS Learning site and actually it's quite hard, although it did have stuff on Server 2008, Exchange 2007 and Win2k etc. that I have never really used.
