Braces! - Ah!

Ok, I'm gettings my mouth measured for braces on Monday, I've heard when they shove the gunk down your throat it makes you feel sick and it feels like play dough and you feel if you're gonna choke to death.

Ok, do you sound like a freak like with a constant lisp when you have braces when you have them?

And for the guys, do you find girls with braces 'ugly'?

yeah when they get moulds it feels awful and makes you bork but just bare with it and it's fine afterwards. braces are annoying but in the end they make your teeth well better init and no braces aren't that much of a turnoff.

they give you abit of a lisp but you get used to it, it doesnt make you choke as its stuck to the top of your mouth and your dentist should hold it into place and they dont look nice.

I've had them for over a year now and they really don't bother me. They might hurt a bit once in a while but you get over it :)

I don't mind braces on girls, never had them personally but with my retainer (I'm talking back like 7 years now), the mould wasn't too bad just tastes funny and makes your mouth produce more saliva if I recall correctly.

The mould is foul. You will feel like being sick, that is the truth. It makes you gag, it makes your eyes water it is the worste dentist experience to date. I've had braces for about a year and abit now and I'm getting so bored of them but they're not bad and don't stand out THAT much on me cos i don't go for silly colours lol.

They gave me a bit of a lisp at the start, but I got over it :)

And the mould thing on top of my made me not be able to breathe!! (Or bottom, I can't remember)
I was told to breathe through my nose, and I didn't and panicked :P

when they put that thing in your mouth, you just need to relax. some girls like boys with braces though :L some people say they're even a turn on :L

and before you get them put in you have to have either retainers or spacers,
i had spacerss and they made me cry ! lolol

in the long run, braces will benefit you. they never gave me a lisp, only broke rarely and as long as you brush twice a day then you dont need to worry about food getting stuck in them (:

I found it the same. I had to have the mould done twice because they lost the first moulds they took. To be honest I found getting teeth out making room was worse because I'm afraid of the dentist.

i had them for a year and a half, i actually suited them lols. when i got them off i wanted them back on because it was so weird without them and my teeth looked so big and whiteee

but getting braces is worth it, just remember to wear your retainers alot after u get them out so your teeth dont move x

I've had them for about 18 months, they're staying on for at least another 18 months (I was born with too many teeth) and I can't stand it, every other day its breaking, I have a snapped wire and the end bracket, like on a molar (?) at the back that isn't on.

But apart from niggles like it breaking, when its fine you don't even notice it.

yeeee i got braces too and it aint that bad just annoying when they get tighten'd but its not that bad, and when food get stuck but just brush.

and tbh i dont like the way braces look on anyone but people barely notice them if u dont get those colours just stick with the normal way they are.

I've had braces for 3 years and never had a problem. The "gunk" doesn't make you choke, you get the mould done and then you have the braces fitted, simple as. They'll occasionally hurt as your teeth adjust to the pressure though, and no, you don't get a lisp from braces.

Lmao i didnt get any gunk down my throat prob cuz mines the quad helix, you dont get a lisp just likes of pain when they ajust it ^^ Oh btw quad heix is one with a pice of metal in the roof of ya mouth pushing your jaw out ^^

I finished my brace treatment six months ago, all has gone well. I suppose the lisp depends on the shape of your teeth/mouth at the current, only you will be able to tell if you are going to have a lisp and that's when they actually fit the brace to your teeth. Of course, speaking for the first few days is tough and smiling isn't always something you like to do. It's all in the mind. This "gunk" stuff I'm guessing is the stuff they use to take the sizes and stuff, it feels like warm wet chewing gum going in and it honestly depends if any of it goes down the back of your throat. Remember these people know what they are doing and fit braces daily. I'd advise you to let the orthodontist know straight away if the wires poke your gums, i didn't and ended up cutting the ends myself. Let's talk about down the line from now around about two years? I'm guessing that's when you'll have them removed (due to an average) and then you'll be fitted for your retainer. I didn't wear my retainer due to not honestly being fussed with it, it's also very painful and annoying. My teeth have stayed straight without the retainer. :)

My braces don't really bother me. Only when I pull the wire out when I'm bored then have to spend ages putting it back in. Ain't got one on bottom though, pulled it clean off.

I wouldn't say braces make you look cute, but they don't make you look ugly either. A lot of people have them.

The gunk is absolutely disgusting. When I had it, I felt like I was choking because I couldn't breathe and panicked.
The braces didn't really give me a lisp, but the retainers did. It was fine after a few days though.

I didn't really want to get braces at the start, but their really worth it for the lovely straight teeth at the end.

so about 3 years ago i got my braces on and its like oh noez end of ze wurld but its really not, the worst thing is the mould they put in because its kinda hard to swallow but it doesnt make you choke or anything, you just have to relax lol. the worst thing for me was they smooth your teeth or whatever cus it is kinda sore. but its honestly worth it because i get my braces off next january *yawn* and by this time i cant even remember what it feels like to have naked teeth plus they are looking so straight now.
