View Full Version : New SkyHD EPG?
Does anyone know when the Samsung boxes will be getting the upgrade? I see that most Thomson boxes have had the upgrade now, but I've got the Samsung one, so wondering when it'll "come".
I want ITV HD :[

Theres an EPG upgrade?
EDIT: Second qaurter of 2009 babes xo.
It already is Q2.
And some boxes already have it, I know someone with the Thomson brand box that has it.
It looks quite good to be honest, and you can tune ITV HD onto it, which you can't with the old one :P.
I phoned them last month about it, and they said at the start of april, but no updates as of yet.

They are doing a rollout slowly now, its supposed to be completed by the end of spring and you'll get an information pack through the post a couple of days before you get the update ;)

Well my Sky+HD order is due to be complete in 7-12 weeks (:@) so hopefully my box will be already upgraded or will update as soon as I plug it in.
You'll probs get the Pace box then :P, which i tihnk, is even after the samsung.
Aren't sky changing the viewing cards as well?
Nick.

I think it's weird how they use all kind of different manufacturers for their boxes. Why don't they just stick to (at least at a time). What are the Pace ones like? I know the Thompson ones are apparently quite problematic. Also I've seen a lot of discussion about the MiniTV (PIP) spoiling programs by showing the end of one of your recordings. I don't quite understand what everyone is on about. Why would the MiniTV show the end of a program? :S

Don't worry. I was originally quoted 4 months, 2 weeks later I was installed :D

I don't know, i think they have contracts etc with manufacturers.
And you can disable the mini-tv anyways, so there's no problem realy.

Yeah I know they have contracts but why would they sign up with so many different manfs? lol. And are you sure? Everyone AVforums is moaning about the new EPG's not having a feature to turn the Mini-TV off.

Well we signed up a month ago, and got told 3 months then. Email through yesterday, 7-12 weeks so it's practically still 2-3 months LOL.

The new EPG doesn't look the best.. from what I've seen I think the old one looks a lot better, it resembles a crappy freeview guide.

I seen a video what got posted a few month back on DigitalSpy from Sky News, it's good because it's got a section for HD Channels but the display while viewing the guide sucks, theres no need for that.. when you can flick through and see what is on that channel in a few hours with just the arrows (Don't know the actual term for that view lol). But the episode guide is what I liked the most about sky.. it beat all the other ones.
I don't use Sky that much, it's downstairs but still..lol.
