All depends on dialect & pronunctiation of the area really doesn't it. Be interesting to collaborate who pronounces it which way into geographical locations.

Water
Au some
Fantarstic

It's wunce... Every dictionary website available says the pronounciation is wúhns/wúnts and so on... If you click the "sound" symbol which is available on alot of them it's pronounced wunce... Wonce sounds like an American trying to speak British by thinking we say things deeply. Like "What's that gort (got) to do with anything?" Seriously, listen to Americans trying to speak... English, you'll see what I mean.

He says wonce?!
It says wunce, unless he's going against the pronounciation key, which clearly says "wuns" next to it. "Wonce" would enthesis the "on" but he doesn't. Say "wonce" and you'll see. He clearly says "wunce."

The link you gave sounds similar to:

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/once

You'd think the website you gave would give a clearer pronounciation... Afterall, that's what the whole point of a pronounciation function is.

Open narrator in Windows, she says wunce too.

Yes, and so does everyone else I know.

Everyone else you know probably has the same accent as you so they would pronounce it the same way.

I say wonce because that's what fits in with my accent. Simple as.

I think it is just an accent thing, because to some people, them saying wunce just wouldn't sound right, so the right and wrong thing about how to pronounce it is pointless.

Dictionary sites probably put a typical London pronunciation on because that's considered most standard English accent, but not everyone is from London, so they don't all say wunce.

Am I right in thinking the wunce option should be pronounced like the word "won" as in "I won the competition" with a "s" sound on the end?
