I made a thread about this a long time ago, but I thought i'd stress the idea again, as I think it's quite a nice feature, and could come in handy - especially for reputation editors looking for pointless rep that people have been given or whatever. It is also pretty safe and secure too.

But anyway, it is basically like the rep box we have in our User CPs already, but instead of showing rep that YOU have, it shows rep that you have GIVEN. This idea could also encourage more people to use the repuation system, as lately it is been pretty dead, and by showing how much or how little you have given could be interesting and allow members to see if they havn't really given any in ages.

Just an idea. :)

That would be good, then you would sort of have some idea of how many more people you will have to rep before you can rep the same person again.

yeah that would be good. i don't really use rep that much now though as i always get the 'spread rep...' message so i don't bother with it anymore lol. good idea though nevertheless.

Actually, that's another good point, because if you owe someone rep, then you can see when you can rep them again on the list.

I like this idea aswell, I would like to see it and I'm sure it would come in handy :P

Saw this a few months ago on another forum I use and thought it would be good on HxF.

I'm in favour of this.. :P

I think it's a good idea, I would love to see who I've repped and how much I need to spread etc

HOW DID I KNOW YOU WERE GONNA REPLY THAT?? :BangHead:

this seems like a good idea ;) I don't see the harm it would do really, can only think of advantages like you said, you'll know how many people you need to rep until you can rep someone again & if anyone doesn't like it they can just click to minimize it like you can do when seeing rep that you've been given.

Yes, I would love to see this feature. It's very useful too.

Not to knock it but editors would never find this useful.

Also the rep system has been abused with pointless repping everwhere espcially when people rep back. It completely defeats the purpose of a reputation system. I prefer it now it is a little more calmer on the rep front as the numbers of pointless repping have reduced it means there is an increase on people actually being given rep for a decent post or thread now as oppose to just for funsies.

How would the editors not find this useful?

But yeah, everyone else seems to be in agreement to this, and there isn't really a reason for it not to be put in place.

Because it only shows them who you have given rep to. Which means the editor could only see who he has repped.

Why would I need to use it? :S

You wouldnt have to use it but it would be good to see who you have repped and like Jin said, good reference for Yoshimitsui and Brandon or any other administrator or Features Manager.

i reckon this would just encourage pointless repping seeing. Sorry, i don.t like this and you don.t need to see who you have repped. If you want to, just click the give rep button next to a post?

The only percieved use I see for this is to determine how many more people you have to spread rep to...and we try to discourage that ;)

We can already see every rep comment received and added to a member through the Admin CP so it wouldn't help on that front. And as others have said it's more of an aid to giving out more pointless rep knowing how many more before they can rep their friends again.

I like this idea. I'd like to be able to keep track of who I've given rep to.

But why do you discourage peope acknowledging how many times they have to spread rep, to say.. Add to their signature then when they have repped so many they will know the time has come :)

Oooh, when I first saw this, I was like, oh no! Because I thought it meant display your name when you -rep people but now I sort of get the idea, which is cool, and yeah, in favour 100% :)

It'll allow people to know when they can rep someone so they won't just put it in their signature and wait if they know exactly how many people they need to rep, they will pointless rep people until they can finally rep the person intended. That's one of the reasons why I believe!

So are we having it or not?

Most of the forum agrees and there are only positives!

I'd say most disagree actually, thinking about it, it doesn't have much purpose other than to give pointless rep.

no there aren't, they've just said it would encourage pointless repping in order to rep the people you want.

Check through the thread, more people have said 'yes, this is a good idea', than 'no, this is a bad one'.

yea i can see that i also said "yes" to it originally, i'm saying that the main negative of pointless posting outweighs all of the positives so i don't see why it should be put into place. It's not really going to benefit you, you could just put whoever you need to rep in your sig.

The small amount of people in this thread does not reflect the Forum majority. My personal opinion is that it's a pointless addition that is hardly necessary.

I agree with Garion. For for all the extra VB work it would cause its not really worth it.
if I need to keep a note of who you owe rep too I keep a note on my computer. The more plugins in VB the higher the risk of security being breached.
