Well i remeber someone on here having really stretched tyres, are they legal?

As far as I know, they're illegal.

for the record, it was me with the stretched tyres and they are perfectly legal. I got 215/35/R18 on a 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 wheel.

handling can be impaired with silly stretch as the tyre can pop off the bead but mild stretch can actually improve handling as it reduces sidewall flex. various BMW's come with very very mild stretch from the factory. they also assist with scrubbing issues if your car is super low.

the stretched tyre 'scene' originated when a law in belgium (i think) was passed to say that the tread had to be under the arch, which meant that people couldn't run poke on super wide wheels, so stretched the tyre so that the tread was under the arch. the 'trend' was set and followed on.
