Yeah, well basically our headteacher only a few days ago said "only 12 more days to go." as normally year 11's leave for study leave and then return for exams. Anyway now we've found out we're not having study leave and we have to come in inbetween exams and so on. Anyway all year 11 (like 200 kids) we all sat down on field after lunch and got senior management to come out and they were like trying to use blackmail and write down 200 names and phone all parents to collect us all from field (as if thats possible) - anyway was funny but thing we're annoyed about is that we were told only a few days ago we were having it when he knew we weren't, and his excuse was "oh I ment deadline for coursework".
Anyway all teachers are annoyed and they were all standing watching it lmao, but are any other year 11's on here having their study leave or has it been cancelled?

Nope, we are going on study leave in 10 school days (maybe only 9) and we get the choice to come in for revision lessons.

I was in same position of you when i was in year 11, they told us we'd have like 2-3 weeks study leave but then decided we had to come in for revision sessions instead. I was annoyed at the time but don't regret it at all now, i know i would of done no work at home if i didn't go to those sessions.

I break up in two weeks and come back June something for a few weeks. I understand why you want study leave, but it's pointless and your better off in school if you actually wanna do well. If you want to panic and stress then it's upto you.

Hmm technically we have 'study leave' from June 5th... what that entails no-one knows because last years study leave was a 'disaster'

Starting next year, years 10 & year 11s are getting no study leave at all here. We only get 2 days off at the moment anyway before our first exam but we don't have to come in if we don't have an exam, unlucky for you though. Why did he tell you you were getting it when you weren't, and why has it just been decided you're not getting it :S

God knows, our school management are hypocrites though for many other reasons. To be honest i'm not really bothered about it, just annoys me the way they've lied to everyone.

Our teachers keep saying "we don't know". I highly doubt we won't :/

24-04-2009, 09:50 PM
We don't because we do more revision in school with teacher help than at home, which i agree with. Although i would have liked the time off ;)

How school likes to get rid of us to be honest, they like the school clear for the new year 7s to visit and stuff like that. There are mainly revision classes in every lesson and we get a choice whether to go or not. I will because I do need to do some harddd revision. But otherwise, yes, we get study leave, our school is pretty good for that.
yeah the year above me are going in 13 days i think :D

I dont think its much of a problem, its best to be in school at these times in my opinion. Summer holidays soon + if your in year 11 that starts after your last exam in June or end of May so ye, just wait another month then you will be fine!

In VCE Year 11 doesn't matter that much, the exams are corrected by teachers, so its pointless...
But in year 12 (the year that 'counts') they are corrected by teachers from another school, its all formal and shiz, we got study leave i guess you call it. We had about 2-3 weeks off before our first exams... was sweet :D

25-04-2009, 01:11 PM
we didn't get study live at GCSE, nor do we get it at a-levels. i think thats a good thing as i wouldn't revise and would just laze around throughout all of it lol.

Ha, you naughty little boy :P My year was the worse year too. There were too many personalities conflicting, there were the chav people who hid classroom clocks in attics, thrown food and then there were us goody goodies who did nothing wrong, other than that time I threw a stone at the strictest teacher in the school's car, but he fears me eversince I found it amusing and smiled too much...
I thought schools were going to enforce the right of having study leave? Although that depends on the school, some have revision lessons disguised as normal lessons which remove any reason for there being a study leave, which is just another holiday really :P
Inseriousity.
25-04-2009, 03:23 PM
then we go back for 3 weeks (POINTLESS)
lol so do I :( "its so we can be ahead for A2 work" same excuse for you?
Anyway as for study leave, they did the same with us. You'll get through it and before you know it, you'll be annoyingly waiting til results day :(
Yep :) We "leave" on the 15th May (well go to alton towers) then come back in on the Monday for an RE exam >.>

That's because study leave isn't used for it's intended purpose. And don't say it is because it really is not.

If mine does get cancelled like Robbies I wouldnt go in, I'd just stay off tbh because I find it more comfortable revising at home and I think I get more done that mucking about with my mates in class.

I had this when I was in Yr11 (3 years ago :O), but we just dossed about in school since none of our teachers really cared :P. We had a leavers assembly before our exams and then we weren't supposed to come in unless exams, but we did just to annoy people :D. The only reason why they made us finish early was to get rid a tradition at my school called 'Foam Day' where all the Yr11s come in on their last day with shaving foam and foam as many people as possible. Funny thing is it didn't work and we just scheduled our own foam day and didn't tell anyone :P.

at my school we aint allowed to call it study leave. we have to use revision timetable which is the same thing as study leave. we know we get it but we dont know the date until we have an assembly and then they say "go home and dont come back except for exams". its been a tradition at my school for many years to do it that way.
Im glad the year 11's have study leave now :)
Now there aint as many kids everywhere

My first exam is Tuesday and Im around 85% revised for it, just need to do 2 more topics and then a few past papers. I find it far easier working at him because now my timetable is so flexible I can do anything when I want.
TBH i'd rather go into school because I wouldnt work at home lol.
Sunny.

We dont get study leave. It was demolished two years ago. In my opinion its good because I know for a fact that I wouldnt revise @ home so going 2 school is the better option if I dont want to fail. Yh i know id rather hve study leave but then id flop my exams. Our leavers day is after all exams are over so that way we actually have something to celebrate.
Our school timetable has finished and now we got to school using our normal timetable for the 1st week however as soon as we have taken the exam for a specific subject we no longer are required to go to that lesson and get a FREE lesson meaning we can go home its last lesson.

TBH i'd rather go into school because I wouldnt work at home lol.
That's just a discipline problem... Some of my friends go to school for the same reason, thinking they'd do "more" work, but they end up doing nothing anyway.
i've got 21 exams between 18th may and 22nd june, i have to go in full time til 3rd of june then we get study leave :) im probably gonna go in though because I never revise at home :/
I've got 23 papers to do in 31 days with an 11-day break some time in that period. I've already done my AS German oral and my Sprachdiplom exams. Can't believe I'm going to do so many exams. I regret taking economics now, actually. I could've had 4 more free periods had I not taken it and it would've been fine. Doing GCSE papers for economics, Geography, biology, physics, chemistry, English language and English literature. AS papers for Maths C1, C2, S1 and German...
I don't revise at home way before the exams, but neither would I do so at school. I always forget it by the time I do the exam. I'm likely to start revising around a week before the actual exam with some past papers and stuff. I might start around two weeks before if I'm familiar with the subject so I can concentrate more on weaker subjects in the week before.
Our school timetable has finished and now we got to school using our normal timetable for the 1st week however as soon as we have taken the exam for a specific subject we no longer are required to go to that lesson and get a FREE lesson meaning we can go home its last lesson.
:)
That's the same here. Our school is putting on revision sessions for near exams in the free lessons, so basically we get to choose our own timetables, which is good as I only need to focus on a few more subjects :)

we didnt get study leave
my Study Leave started May 11 :)
.:.:jjm261:.:.
31-05-2009, 07:35 PM
Imo, Study leave is okay, but the way we've got it is a lot better, we have block revision during the study leave, So you're not in, but you have to come in for two periods during the day your exam is, or the day before, which is good
Because tbh, on study leave who studies?
Pyroka
31-05-2009, 07:43 PM
We didnt have study leave, nobody cared and we all pretty much passed our exams. The people who didn't come in, which were basically the ones who thought they were cool for skipping school... Well most didnt get the results they wanted, and ended up working for their dads in a garage.
Basically they achieved the Devonshire Dream. :)
I wouldnt be assed if you didnt have study leave, it's really not that big of a deal and anyway you break up earlier than most schools and have like 1-2 weeks extra summer (most schools did back when I was in Y11), so stop yer moaning! :)

my school never tell us if were goin on study leave or not untill 20mins before u leave. we were in lessons normally and we were called to assembly and they said ryt ur 1000 days of education is up goodbye and goodluck. we actually went earlier than we meant to because we thought we were goin on this other day so they decided to bring it earlier and suprise the crap out of us all.
