habbo allows them

Hi Habbo,

Thank you for your recent email.

You are able to give these rights to people who donate to your fansite, providing you are not actively promoting donations for those reasons, or advertising what you receive if they make a donation as this could be classed as a donation.

Yours,

I'm with Jake lol, I read it about 3 times and it didn't make sense.

But I think I get the basic premise; habbox can give features to donators as long as they don't say they're going to :P Sounds like a horrible policy.

Its basically saying that Habbox can offer extra items/ services to donators provided they don't advertise it anywhere which I think is a great idea.
I cannot honestly see what Habbo have to complain about here as they offer
HC as a premium? Sites have to make some money via 'donations' to even cover the running costs. I would be happy to receive some free surprises from Habbox and I am sure others would too! :O:D

If this is truly the case I would suggest in the donator/VIP section (ie: where people say "give me 75hc and I'll maybe buy you donator") could make a thread saying what they received (supposing of course that Hx do decide to give out old VIP features again) and that could be locked and stickied in that area - that way neither Habbox themselves nor the staff are advertising what you get

Or an automated PM to a user who has donated to Habbox saying something like
''Thank you for your generosity and your donation to Habbox. To say thanks you now have your coloured name to recognise you are a donator and also ... which will only last 30 days starting from today untill ../../20..''
That way Habbox wont be advertising features or extra's you get for donating, just thanking you and telling you what you get for doing so.

That too, I was just meaning as a way for people to know BEFORE they buy it :P

I really don't understand what Habbo are trying to achieve with this. If they're saying Habbox is allowed to give away features for money as long as they don't tell you before you've paid, they may as well let VIP happen again. If habbox do it for everyone who donates the word is going to get out very quickly and it'll turn into a situation where everyone and their dog knows habbox is selling the features but habbox is exempt from punishment because it isn't explicitly stated on their site. If this is what Sulake wants to happen they need to focus their efforts on something more worthwhile.

I think this is sulakes way of saying "We buggered up, we were wrong, you were right, but we wont admit it, but u cn have vip back".

None of that email makes sense!

Providing you are not actively promoting donations for those reasons.
Isn't having special abilities without advertising impossible? A VIP member is a talking, spamming and trolling advert :/

Advertising what you receive if they make a donation as this could be classed as a donation.
Promoting something is effectively advertising.

What Ludus said is a more long-winded way of "VIP features are not allowed, but we'll make it sound like they're allowed by making a long-winded excuse of "Make sure you don't advertise it or promote it." Which is impossible. He may aswell told you the truth and say "We don't allow VIP because for some unknown reason, we don't like it!"

Seriously, Habbo executives hire idiots and Habbo itself is run by idiots. Sheesh, someone close them down or hope the recession bites hard. Anything, please!

Erm I wouldn't say that at all. It's one staffs reply which doesn't even make sense. He probably made a mistake and I doubt that VIP is allowed yet. But if it is allowed then that would be good so fingers crossed.

Okay so if we act on a supposed email then we'll get in trouble for not contacting Habbo directly (strange policy) but I will ask Habbo for clarification on this.

That would throw the entire decision to eliminate VIP out essentially.

What sites are giving features anyway?

I havn't seen any, and I think contacting Habbo yourself would be the best idea, as you say it takes away their option to moan at us for using a email witch for all we know could be fake!

But yh, I saw this on Clubhabbo...
