well i thought it looked awesome by the trailers before, but i wasnt sure if it was actually gonna be good cause ive been fooled by previews before. but apparently it's the most ridiculously awesome movie ever, as it has a 100% on rotton tomatoes and an 89 on metacritic, so i'm guessin it's worth a watch.
i know nothing about star trek though, but apparently it doesnt really matter, the movie explains basically everything. so thats good lol, cause i certainly didnt keep track in star wars.

I have been watching all of the star treks over the past week from beginning to end.
I'm going to watch Star trek Generations tonight
It looks really good. I don't watch Star Trek any more but I used to be a right little geek when I was 13 :8

I thought the best character portrayal was by Karl Urban. He played "bones" Mcoy perfectly.
Chekov was the worst, though. The only thing similar was his russian accent.

Was it really that good?
Do you have to be a fan of the whole star trek to understand it? I wanna see and I don't recall ever watching one of the programs

Nope, I hated watching the star trek series and haven't watched any of the films. The film starts a new storyline, so Kirk and Spock start as kids, graduate etc. It's a really good sci-fi film, my physics teacher who's a die-hard fan hated it, only because it ruined the continuity and plot of the previous stuff, but the film, the action scenes - just wow.

all the reviews said there are certain things in the movie that star trek fans will understand, but even if youve never heard of star trek before it doesnt matter, you'll follow.
i might see it today

My fellow Star Trek fans who've seen it have panned it. I plan on seeing it, but I'm not getting my hopes up at all.

i've never watched any star treks before, and im really not into space stuff at all but i decided to give it a watch for the sake of Chris Pine (Captian Kirk) and loved it. Such a good film, really, really impressive.
Really enjoyed it, more than I expected to.

I spent half the film trying to figure out who the head Romulan was until I finally saw that it was Eric Bana. I really enjoyed it, story was quite good imo considering they had to introduce all the characters as well. It'd be good if they made another film because obviously they could just jump straight into a story.

And since it's in an alternate timeline, they could make that story anything they wanted and it wouldn't have to link in with star trek 1 - 10

It's not an alternate timeline, it's a prequel (set before the original stuff).

Yes, it's an alternate timeline. You obviously missed the whole meaning of the film...
It was all going the same up until Kirk's father got killed by Nero. When that happened, the future changed

My friend saw the film, he said it's the best one yet. And ive only ever seen 1 star trek film (cant remember which one) But I will watch it when it comes out on DVD :P BLUE RAY ALL THE WAY!
Yeah pretty good, shame they had to include a 'god scene' where someone is surrounded by enemies yet still doesnt get shot, but apart from that, good movie.
Oh and its Blu-Ray not 'Blue Ray'
I haven't seen it yet, is it even out? The trailers make it look awesome, and i've not ever been a fan of Star Trek anyway, but the trailors definitely made it look like a must-watch.
I saw it last Friday and thought it was great, never seen the previous Star Treks, but I think its a film I would buy on DVD :)
I loved how they made it funny too :D
Really enjoyed it, more than I expected to.
Plus we have one of the best cinemas to watch it in :D

I've heard nothing but good things. I've never been a Star Trek fan, but will probably check it out when it hits DVD.
