fail, its nasty except for the stage area bit which makes sense as hxl parties take place but if it's a music themed desk alot more effort could've gone into it, back in the day habbox used to update the desk really well when i worked there it was worth waiting for (when dj-3000 owned it) i just dont like it , k end of rant lol

I really like the stage area, as it's part of eurovision.
Obviously the layout aimed to portray the arena in which eurovision is held, taking into account the space for a staff desk so all in all I think it's pretty good. :)

ALOT more effort could've gone into it though, im just comparing how the desk used to be to what it has become

I agree, the stage is absolutely fantastic.. but the rest.. oh dear.

The hello furni is just an immediate fail, sorry but it is, you could have used anything but hello furni.. blue iced? What happened to the days when Habbox had money? You could have even bought some theatre chairs? Or even directors chairs? It would look so much better.

I obviously respect it may not be possible due to funds, but one thing that might be is having flags all over the walls instead of just that random bit?

Yeah i'm sure that it could be improved but it wasn't made by a professional room designer, just someone who wanted to help so I hope they aren't disheartened by this thread.

soz didn't have any dinos and birdbaths hanging around xoxo

The idea was to get furni to actually match. The stage was already set up when I got there and the flooring at the time was brown and white tiling which really didn't work. When I left it there was a cobbled floor which I still think would look better than the current exec and the hello furni was chosen as it matches the colours (or lack thereof:P) of the stage and looked like seating might be in a concert hall. There were also tiles under the chairs so it didn't look quite so bland, the walls were different and the area with the CD stacks was differently decorated - I believe it looked much better in the planning room, there are a fair few subtle but damaging differences that have been made since then. Not too sure why but there you go.

@Oli: I did say to get director chairs but Jack said there's only 10 in the whole hotel or something and I'm not up on these things so took his word for it :P

That bad, its completely ugly, i don't see why eurovision has anything to do with habbox so theres no need for a help desk for have it. Different for like christmas/easter etc but a bloody crap program on tv? :S

I didnt mean make it look rich :P because obviously lack of funds are understandable i think the tiles would look better if floor was covered with them and the flags going across the top wall all around would look good but better furni could have been used, i know the hell furni is similar to the kind of chairs in a theatre but the fishing seats are random i think executive chairs the oneseaters would look better just my opinion though :p

If the same hello furni seats was used perhaps it would look better then at the help desk bit use the neon bar and seats idk lol i just dont like the way it is atm :d

Although I don't really like it - stage? Its a helpdesk, not a party room.

The smart idea was using beginner furni - letting new Habbos they can make a nice room using the furni they get.

Neon bars and seats? I'm somewhat out of touch with some of the newer stuff, I have no idea what that is lol. Didn't want to make it too much like a club though anyway, it's just the stage that needs to be lit. Realllllly don't get the exec flooring, I thought we'd decided against that already in planning but apparently not.. and the wall doesn't make any sense either.

I dunno too many changes have been made since I last knew it so I'm gonna leave this thread for a bit until Sam gets on to explain or something :P

I want a simpson-ish layout, make marge out of yellow and blue doormats with yellow plasto all the way round room

Even the simpsons is more popular than this crapvision.

The stage looks fine, I know the flags are meant to be there because of theme but it's still pretty crappy lol. The floor doesn't look right, especially with those chairs ;_;. The ones behind the staff desk look fine but the purple ones don't go with the floor. Everything sorta clashes but because it's 'Eurovision' I think it kinda goes well overall, it'll only be like that until Eurovision is over and you're all still gonna complain about something no matter what's changed. It's alright.

Everything else = fail, the hello furni makes habbox look cheap.

Rather than just doing it for Eurovision, it's the message behind Eurovision that we are trying to capture - being able to have fun together without all the childish and stupid behaviour thats going on. With all the people coming into the desk and taking advantage of our good nature, it's something that they should try and forget for a while and actually have a little bit of fun while they're in the desk.

Okay I really didn't understand much of your post but from what I can gather you're claiming donations go to me (goodness knows why, I don't use Habbo other than to check up with my departments). Any furniture that has specifically been donated to HxHD for layouts has always been used like that. We get large HC donations, or large credit donations, or just normal donations that are either still in my donations rooms or have already been used as prizes elsewhere. Rather than selling on previous layouts, we keep them ready and waiting in case we want to use them in a layout again - makes sense.

why use hellofurni for a help desk :S:S:S:S:S

As explained earlier, rather than focusing on how "cheap" something is, or making the conclusion that that it's cheap it instantly looks cheap, it fits into the theme of the room and it represents stadium seating or concert hall seating, and actually fits into colours and theme of the room. It's what it's supposed to resemble rather than what it cost to get.

I personally think it really looks ugly. The place makes it feel dull and the staff furniture does not go well AT ALL. It is all about contrasting colours.

I presume the Sunday after Eurovision it will be taken down and returned to normal?

(The idea was good just didn't turn out very well :P)

It will be taken down on the 17th May (16th technically but we usually do layout changes around midnight)

Are you being serious? That is AWFUL
I love the stage, hello furni? WHY? Makes the room look VERY cheap from the word go.
I think you need to seriously think about getting some to design it who's good at this kind of thing :S

Again with the cheapness!

At the end of the day it's just a bit of fun. We had the stage all ready and waiting and then we just needed to go from there, there was a team involved in the process and I think the team did a good job for what its supposed to resemble. It hasn't (and shouldn't) stop anyone from actually using the desk - in fact its drawn some of you in just so you can complain! It won't be around forever so I think everyones over reacting just a tad. A layout of a specific room on Habbo isn't going to damage Habbox's reputation or cause people major distress. If it does, then I think that says a lot more about the person than it does about Habbox.

Enjoy it while you can! We can never do enough! Everyone focuses on "omg such a bad layout" but neglect to mention what the amazing staff are doing up until the 16th - daily quizzes, chances to win VIP. It's a lot of nice stuff, it just comes with a theme. Maybe we can all be optimistic (if that's possible in these parts, I see it so rarely I've almost forgotten what optimism is) and focus on the good things that come with it, rather than dragging the mood down and focusing too much on a simple TEMPORARY layout.

I have my views and opinions on this, and when I try to put them across inside the helpdesk, I am drowned out by moans of "I'M GONNA PUKE!!" from people who expect me to say "I'LL HOLD YOUR HAIR BACK" rather than "I don't think it's that bad."

I think it's all quite nice and fun, and the colours match. Maybe it's not glitzy and glamourous and you find it a bit cheap and nasty - since when was Eurovision a classy competition? At the end of the day, all we wanted to do was create a nice fun atmosphere inside the desk, with an area for people to dance and sing on, which will also be used for the fabulous events we have coming up.

I personally think that some people are failing to appreciate the fact that we're trying to do something nice for everyone and giving away a few prizes here and there and celebrating something which is fun and cheesy and happy, even if it's not a holiday like Christmas, Valentines or Easter.

It'll all be over next Sunday after the UK wins ;).

I don't think its that bad I'm not a fan of the light blue color scheme in the staff-ish area but I think the hello chairs for spectators go nicely with the stage.

Perhaps a wallpaper change plus a change in the bars + staff seating would be an improvement.

But its also may be difficult for Sam and co to find things that fit, and enough of it, it can be a real pain in the arse sometimes :P

They definitely deserve credit for making the effort to bring something new, even if you don't like it they spent a lot of time and effort designing something to try and do something exciting for the users and its kind of rude to be like *THROWZ UP* especially given that when I was owner people were complaining about how little I changed the desk look.

Yeh because you didn't change for different things (i.e. easter, valentines, halloween, christmas and whatever i'm missing)

But changing for stupid events such as this is well, imho stupid.

there is 6,706,993,152 people in the world (as of july 08 approx)
10% of that is 670,699,315

670 million gays

From what I can remember of Nvrs screen shot...

I like:

- The seats in front of the stage
- the light things etc

I dislike:
- The staff area, it doesn't seem to match the rest of the room :(

People saying some sort of furni looks cheap (I don't know the name, lack of habbo these days huh?) is probably a physiological thing. It's like real life you would go around boasting you have bought an awesome pair of £80 designer jeans (a throne), but you'd cringe when your wearing the pair your mum bought for you in George, Asda (plasto) lol So maybe me being an outsider from Habbo furni knowledge at the moment has given me an outsiders perspective :P

Yeah, the main focus shouldn't be the desk itself but what's going on in the desk. We're putting on 10 days worth of quizzes, yet no ones said "thank you" or "that'll be fun" yet I know a certain someone who will probably turn up to 95% of them. It's just a bit of fun, the staff have been amazingly kind in hosting all these quizzes and they don't get the respect they deserve. I think some people are getting their priorities all wrong!

And for the record, Eurovision gets 9mil in a country of 60mil - Lost gets less than double that (15mil) in a country of 300mil so there is a big difference. I'll agree that Eurovision has a large gay following, especially in the UK but many straight guys do watch it - a lot of my friends do. I know in European countries they take it a lot more seriously than we do, and even more straight guys watch it. Worldwide it gets around 100million viewers. Its a nice amount. If you really want, we'll change it back, we'll keep it as it is and we'll change it for Christmas instead, we won't do the quizzes or anything else we planned and just stick to the two per month. All we're trying to do is a nice thing for our faithful visitors.

Approx 10% of population is gay.

there is 6,706,993,152 people in the world (as of july 08 approx)
10% of that is 670,699,315

670 million gays

so yeh, also lost has 15million viewers approx, can we get a forest layout with a hut etc for lost? :D

Lost is also watched worldwide.
No because Lost is part of a series whereas the Eurovision song contect is an annual event that includes most european countries.

Theres one series a year (lost)
Theres one event a year (crapvision)
...

I don't see olympics layout for when theres olympics
or well, for that matter, any other layout :S

football layouts?
BAFTA or whatever kinda awards layouts

etc.

Imho i prefer it not being changed as much and having a decent layout

imho HxHD would be better off with nvrs old layout but obviously the bar alot smaller.

I didn't own it during the Olympics. Maybe we could rustle one up for The World Cup, who knows. Awards shows, that's just silly.

We can never win, because we'll never please everyone. No matter what we do people complain. My point was though, people complained about the lack of events so we thought when we did all this stuff that's exclusive to the helpdesk, people would appreciate that we're going all out to provide entertainment for them - but instead they prefer to find something NEW to complain about (in this case how the desk will look for the next ten days).

We'll take it all on board for the next layout, which I guess now will be Halloween.

Euro vision is "sillier" than award shows IMHO.

If you give away 10hc it doesn't matter the help desk is still ugly so people will still say thats its cheap/crap etc. ;s

Yeah they might do, what I'm saying is the layout isn't the main focus, it should be what we're doing to entertain you as guests. The layout is a minor part of that - it's stopping absolutely no one going in (and if they aren't going in because of the layout it says a lot more about them than it does about us). The main focus should be what the staff are doing for the visitors. We could just never do anything for you, no quizzes, no fun, no prizes. I'm sure that wouldn't go down well.

As I said, we'll take on all comments on board for our next halloween layout.

Dont like the new layout. I like the idea of the events, and the stage, too. HOWEVER, HELLO FURNI? no. Seriously, this is what quite a few people will see when they think of Habbox. Noob furni in there, is not a good impression.

Personally with all this negative feedback i think you should change it :p and let people who come to hxhd decide on a theme on a poll like do a theme once a month excep february april october & december (valentine, easter, halloween, christmas) the other months should be voted on by everyone else.

Ultimately if you never done nothing it affects habbox more than its visitors as you lose even more popularity in the desk if you don't host the events :P

Stage is alright I suppose.. the rest is soo bad. I'm glad this is temporary. :P For next layouts make them like the niceish easter one.

Eurovision = utter crap

BOO
06-05-2009, 09:34 PM
Not a fan of this layout. But its okay I suppose. It just doesnt meet the purpose of the room, which is a lounge and help desk combined. You dont get that kind of vibe at all.

But its only temporary. And not the end of the world. Good effort anyway. At least you are trying to keep it changing.

Yeh because you didn't change for different things (i.e. easter, valentines, halloween, christmas and whatever i'm missing)

But changing for stupid events such as this is well, imho stupid.

Eurovision basically is for gays and girls so i don't see the point in it needed a HxHD layout.

So when can we get this simpsons layout, it's supported worldwide :)

Not true, I did change for Christmas, remember I left it up to mid January :eusa_danc:eusa_danc

Did I really own HxHD for an entire year? Because i don't think I owned it during Easter/Valentines but maybe I'm just getting really old lol.

That was an absurdly stereotypical comment.

Wow. Yes, if they give away 10HC it will matter, and that's such a pessimistic attitude to take. If you haven't noticed, several people do like it.

This is near enough what I'd proposed, although we didn't actually have all of it in the design room. It's not massively different to what was actually (we don't wanna) put in but it makes a pretty big change in overall feeling I think. I know some people will forever hate the Hello furni but the fact is it fits with the stage unlike any other 1-seaters that I can think of which is why it was proposed to start with

Sexuality has nothing to do with it - you either like it or you don't, you don't like it because you're gay. In the UK it has a larger gay following than in other countries, granted, but thats not to say it doesn't have a heterosexual following too. It's just because in recent times we've not taken it seriously and camped it up it might have that appeal, however I know plenty of people who love Eurovision and they are perfectly straight - their girlfriends love it too.
