Beta stage

How would i go around making a beta entrance thing alike to youmeo's but using codes which will be given out by admins, they can only be used once. once they have entered it it gives them to login page to the forum ect...
So how would i do this?

I (personally) would store all the codes in a database, then once they're used delete them. Then, if you wanted, you could make a php script to simply add the code to the database. That'd probably be the simple way?

Codes in a database, then once they are usedf have a field for used = true or false. If false they can't use it.
