'Noob' could well be the millionth word in the English language – a milestone set to be reached within the coming weeks.

The news comes directly from the Global Language Monitor that estimates the millionth word in the English language is set to arrive on June 10th, 2009 at 10:22 am, British Summer Time.

What a waste of research. Surely the millionth english word was reached decades ago, considering how versatile the english language is?

Oh I see, they go by what appears on the media, websites and so on. I stick by my verdict.

Ridiculous. Since when did anybody have the right to decide what word can be considered 'a word' anyways, first I've heard of it. It's internet slang, hardly worthy of recognition in the dictionary.

If it was no longer just internet slang, It'd feel less dirty to say it :(

But it isn't really a word is it, it's just a short term of Newbie? That's silly, 'cos then there's two words in the dictionary meaning the same thing :S

Since the lexicographers said so :eusa_danc

Omg how silly/ridiculous/nonsensical: a synonym :S!

Many slang terms are in the dictionary and it only makes sense to put 'noob' in. The English language is constantly developing and coining new terms and this is a good example of that

Yes because people do want to risk losing all *potential* GCSEs/A Level/Other because of putting:

And as the noob sailed away, the pwnz0rz called back, 'Just run away, run away with your nooblets and never returnThen take a picture when your camera/phone should be handed in. (!)

I wrote about an internet forum conspiracy in one of my MOCKs, had noobs and epic fail all around. Somehow I also got a good grade.

But "noob" is derived from the word "newbie", which has been used since the 60's. So it'd be pointless tbh.
