Hey guys,
i got new ram 2gb more than i had and it seems to have gotten slower does anyone know why this is?
I removed two 1gb cards and inserted two 2gb cards
Did i need to put them into there coorrect slots or did it not matter what way i put them in?
How do i find the speed of the current ram im using?
And it says 4.00GB but is still slow
Sorry for the 21 questions
Thanks for the help
Richie.

To check your current RAM go to start > right click 'my computer' and it should be listed at the bottom under your PC/Laptop specs.
Also when booting up your system if you have the F1 or F2 options to open a menu try that cos I can change my RAM from one of these menu's before I actually boot up my system. Obviously it'll be different on different systems but it's worth a try. Try YouTube or Google on tutorials on how to add RAM correctly.

Hey,
Thanks for the advice +REP
I think i found out how to fix the problem,
I told Crucial what was wrong and they replied saying
"you may need to update the bios, this will happen form time to time when system memory is upgraded. If you update the system bios this should fix the issue."
How do i do this?

Also it depends on the speed of the ram.

That link contains what you need to flash your bios. Do it with caution, i'm guessing there will be instructions inside that package, if not report back.

Well, here is the page for you laptop from the Compaq website: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=3752686&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us
But i can't really see any page there on bios updates. To be honest i don't think you need to do a bios update.
Did you get 800MHZ Ram, if not what speed, do you know? Because if the speed is low, it can cause a bottleneck on the CPU.

Yeah, download that. Assuming you're on Vista

Hopefully Stephen has given you the right flash there so it doesn't kill your mobo. :P
But i don't think you can accidently flash your bios with the wrong one anymore, mainly because they detect first your mobo and check if you are using the right flash file.
