Sports game:
http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?p=5799091#post5799091

Hosting game:

Hosting game got moved to "Forum games" and the sports game hasn't?

I don't see how this is fair.

They are both specific to the one forum. (sports to sports, hosting to hosting)

I mean... They are both the same principles... You have to guess by either images (sports and hosting) or clues via quotes (hosting).

Why can't hosting just stay in the web host section and the sports stays in the sports section?

They where created for there sections only.

Most of those games in that section are all about "find your sexuality, what does your last text message say etc".

None (their will be some... :P) of them are logical bar from the 2 I just posted.

I don't intend to make a big deal but isn't this slightly unfair?

I still don't understand why they should be moved to the forum games.

They are specific to the forums they where posted in. Why can't they stay there?

Both forums have a bad reputation of trolling and arguments etc, this brings the "community" further together.

Why can't they stay where they where?

If there's a good reason behind it then fair enough.

Because it isn't fair that there's no post count in forum games and people could just post in these threads for post count. If people really want to post in that thread then they can still post in it, in forum games.

It's not posting for the sake of getting your post count up, it's just a little quiz for the people who post there. move it back :)

That could be argued for any type of forum game, there are one's about music that are in the forum games section and not the music section. Like I said before it being moved isn't preventing people from posting in it.

Or, here's a strange suggestion;

Get rid of post count all together. It would solve MANY problems on here. This is a stupid idea by the way as Sports/Hosting games should be in Sports/Hosting sections.

Then we would essentially making the whole Forum a spam forum. Not a very good idea :).

So forum moderators would not be doing their jobs, would they? There's a ban and infraction buttons for such offences. If implemented correctly, it would be great and solve many problems. The higher management just can't probably see how moderators should do their jobs and hire more active moderators.

only certain people like sports. everybody likes stuff like music. Just leave it in the Sports forum.

you're worried about people increasing their post counts when it's clear that people are using the "What are you listening to" thread to increase post counts. If the music forum can have a place to increase post counts easily, why can't every other forum. It was a pictionary thread. It'll die out soon.

Thanks for killing the thread- nobody will use it now. Who cares if it's a game... it's sports related.

I don't know why MODs get so up tight about this sort of stuff. If it's not broken don't fix it. Nobody in the sports 'game' thread was spamming, everybody was participating properly. It wasn't harming anyone where it was. I'm sure you still wouldn't have been fired from your 'job' as a 'DJ' (if you wanna call it that) if you left it in the first place.

Garion it wouldn't be spam because unlike every thread in every other section (which gets away spam) people were abiding to the rules and playing properly. People were only posting relevant, on-topic stuff. Not spam to me.

If you had any idea and visited other forums (you guys could learn a thing or two) you would have noticed that removing post counts stops spamming and and annihilates the idiots who post for the sake of it.

The thread has not been violated in anyway so regardless of what you think, it should be where it can get the widest audience (sports fans) and where users can get the most enjoyment out of it (sports section). At the end of the day, this forum is a product and you should be delivering it to meet the users' needs.

what about these threads?

Although I am a moderator I do have some sympathy with this point of view.
The thread was sports related and quite an effort had to be made to post in it
so it was not made to boost post counts which was one of the original decisions to have a forum games section. I think every thread should be treated on its merits. This one was quite well thought out and quite original.

Sierk used to be quite flexible about posting and moving of threads but I can't find the direction about it.

Obviously I have to moderate as to the present rules but maybe a compromise could be to put a stickied link to it in the sports section so they can find it easily although I do see that it is being used. :)

The first bit, it was moved because all other threads like that belong in the forum games section, it being a forum game. The second bit, what lol? :S

I mean what the hell is going on here?

Look at the threads in "Forum Games", and look at the two threads he mentioned.. they are totally different.

Why? Because the Web Host and Sports games were not Forum Games. They didn't invite the entire forum, who didn't have a single clue what was going on, to post in them.

Now that they are in forum games, any randomer who is going to post what lovely song he is listening to (that's a Forum Game), now has better chance to post something random and stupid in a thread that is logical and meant forthe Web Host section.

Why? because it deals with Web Hosting (as that is what that part of the forum is for..) and Web Hosting people (not some randomer who is going to post what song he is listening to!).

I mean do you not see the logic in it? Just because it is a game, does not denote it to be a forum-wide game, as "Post what song you are listening to" is, that's a forum game.

Not something that is logical and has been thought out for a specific audience.

It's like putting Newcastle football club in Wales.

It's a niche section of the community and the only way people are going to use the game is if it is in the right area.

The argument I have seen that the game will only appeal to those who like sports is fundamentally against the entire concept of a forum as a community.

The suggestion is that there is a community in the sports forum and a community in the web hosting forum etc. etc.

Now, the truth is yes there are groups who tend to spend most of their time in the forum in those specific forums. However the suggestion that threads that should go in other forums that are geared towards their niche should be put in that forum is ridiculous simply because you're fragmenting the forum.

What you're essentially doing is creating mini worlds for each forum, Runescape, Spam, Technology, Sports will all want their own little mini worlds, basically a forum within the forum. The concept of the forum is that this is a community and to do different things you go to different forums, hence the point of seperate forums. If you want to play a game, you go to the Games forum. If you want to play a game that involves webhosting, you shouldn't be looking for games in webhosting, you should be looking in Games. If its put in Games, then not everyone will participate but yes those interested will.

So no we're not going to allow the forum to further fragment itself into a hundred different worlds, we'll try and maintain the sort of community going although some have entirely isolated themselves into a specific forum/category, but if they choose to do so they restrict the threads they want to look at, just because someone chooses to use only the sports or tech forums does not mean we'll be bringing feedback, games, political news etc regarding technology to those forums.

I know what I mean, the issue is if I said it in a way that makes sense, so let me know if it doesn't :P

Oh, and as a postscript, I think it is beyond question that the moderators took the right action in both cases, as it stands currently the threads are in the right section (Forum Games) and the rules and procedures would have to change for it to be right for them to leave the thread in the respective forum. Moderators cannot just rebel against the rules, they must enforce them as they stand currently, though they can suggest changes.

Yes but the point is if it is a very specific game which is in a very broad section then nobody will play it. Having it in the sports section makes it directly available and accessible the minority who wishes to play it. If you haven't noticed, the threads that have been moved have essentially died. I really don't see what harm is done if a thread is kept in a section where it appeals to those who would use it.

As I said earlier, it's like putting Newcastle football club in the middle of the Arizona Desert- nobody would go to it!!!

Obviously some people will play a very specific game. I think your anology is off...that's like saying you should move it to a different forum (like not HabboxForum at all.)

A more appropriate anology would be in a supermarket or department store, having a returns section for each aisle, because each aisle will then be able to access those specific returns. However, the supermarket operates as a whole so all customers at the supermarket are able to return their purchases at that aisle.

Now that too isn't a perfect analogy, but I think its closer to the Newcastle Club in the Arizona desert.

Some people have obviously complained about it.

Sorry what?
