The chatbox is indeed a mod. What Adam was saying is we don't install mods because it involves messing with the forum code and other such juicy stuff I don't understand. If a mistake is made when editing it it could leave us open to an exploit (I believe that happened when we installed the chat box we currently have).

The flash client isn't intergrated into the vBulletin as much as other modifications are, though, as it's essentially just a program showing on the page (just taking people's usernames). It's been checked and believe me, it took about 2 years for management to even consider any form of chat.

Every modification is exploitable and with the new release of vBulletin coming very soon, it wouldn't be very efficient for HxF management to integrate this modification anyway because it owuld have to be removed or it would hinder the updates of the forum.

I also don't think that this modification would be beneficial to the mass audience of Habbox Forum due to the reasons mentioned before and due to the fact, I really don't think it's needed and wouldn't enhance a users vist to the forum.

Hackers target HxF and daily backups mean nothing if someone got hold of the db

Trust me, if someone even gained access to the database then HxF would not be complying with the DPA and could possibly get shut down (due to the sheer size of the website). It's a risk not worth taking.

Nice idea but I don't see it being useful in many areas of the forum except perhaps spam, which of course due to its nature doesn't need to be given any mods to make conversation make sense
