I dunno about you, but I think BT are the worst company to be with. Their customer services are beyond terrible, and the internet connection isn't even that good. I'm with Virgin, and I know their customer service can be quite bad too sometimes, but at least there is decent deals, and decent internet connection :|.

Virgin where awful for us up here, but that's probably because I live 25 miles out the city.

Hmm.. are you on BT Option 3? Maybe I should turn the downloads down... what was your usage for the month so far?!

Caution

Did you get a warning first? They e-mail me every month saying I'm like a week into the month and I've used 7GB out of my 10GB. I'm wanting to change anyway, they're crap.

So they've cut your for piracy or going over your GB allowance? If it's the latter then what has iTunes got to do with anything? :S

I think he means that he used to download lots of crap illegally but now that he switches to legal methods is when they cap him.

Phone BT and tell them you use things like iPlayer, 4OD etc a lot and they should take the cap off.

They only cap people as a way of stopping piracy, also maybe send them a copy of your iTunes account statement, showing them its all legally purchased

They'll just quote his information with everything which pushed him over the limit and point out that there's none of the things he mentioned; 4OD etc.
They did they same with me, no warning, just cap you after you go over the limit. It's why I changed.

BT's plans are meant to give you unlimited access to services like iPlayer, 4oD, iTunes, Spotify etc. I thought? :S

I agree, I get crap speeds, internet is constantly having problems and I get like 30kb/s upload speeds, and I upload a fair bit of YouTube videos and it's slow as!

I think it sucks :( I wish I could get a really fast package and have YouTube videos upload quickly because whenever my brother uploads a video I can't play Xbox or anything because it lags like **** :(

Virgin just upgraded us for from 10mb/s to (up to) 20mb/s for £4 a month ontop of the £10ish we're paying (with various promotions). I've had no problem from at all and I don't live in a town either.

BT messes all of their customers around, fact, and its a disgrace that they are promoting their service as a good way to download high volumes of video and data when it's slow and capped. You should switch providers.

£14 a month for that? That's an amazing deal, and omg at the upload kb/s that'd upload videos so quickly, I want one of them connections they've got in Japan lol

I totally agree, you really don't know all of the stress my family has had with BT in the past before with Phone and Internet. Their customer service is shocking, and the way the people treat their customers and have this "don't give a **** attitude" is also quite shocking. They will never change, because people don't have the guts to leave them, they've been awful from Day 1 and that was like, what 10 years ago?! Also, I heard it takes up to 8 weeks for them to actually connect your new internet connection to your computer (if you have just joined BT and want an internet/phone connection) and with Virgin it only took like 1-2 weeks with me... Cus the guy had to come up and fix something.

To be fair Skepta, your going to get that or worse on any ISP unless you have cable in your area, so i'd stop moaning ;)

"Your local phone exchange is Ravensden
Judging by your distance from this exchange (1246 meters*), the maximum speed you are likely to achieve with standard ADSL on BT is 5Mbps. "

We get a meg more than the estimate, so i'm happy... until they bring cable to the countryside.

I am planning on going with Bt Option 3 next month when this contract runs out with o2 because at the moment my speed SUCKS with o2 at peak times (less than 1mb/s) so if all you lot with BT think you have it bad, try o2 Access package. Then you will know what bad connection is.

Even though the speeds are crap, as you said, it's hillarious listening to my dad on the phone to somebody in india... "Have you tried restarting your router.. YOU JUST TOLD ME TO DO THAT"

Don't go with BT, their customer service sucks! I ring them up 3 different times about the internet being down, the first time they have no idea, the second they say we need to reboot our internet or whatever and the third they finally tell us that they are doing some maintenance.
