Prospecting parts for a win7 build

I've been considering getting a new desktop for a while, and with windows 7 coming out in the next... well hopefully no more than 6 or so months lol. I thought it would make a great excuse. Because of this i couldn't rest the urge to parts perve :p

What do you think of the basic pc I've come up with

Side notes: its currently all ebuyer based, when it comes to it i'll probably source some cheaper ram, i'm also hoping some of the parts will have cheapened a little by the time i actually buy :P. Also im not much of a gamer so the gfx card is quite minimal (i'm planning to buy 2*22" monitors at the same time, so it needs to be able to drive them with apps like photoshop etc so i may up the spec on that later on... student loan put to good use :p)
Also i have a 12cm fan and a few other bits and peaces already :)

as if I was you, windows 7 is getting optimised for SSD, so maybe the thought of a SSD Drive and a smaller Hard Drive?

Yes, but the limit is way within the lifetime you'd expect to be using it for before you upgrade.

It's a decent choice of parts. I possibly wouldn't go with that cooler as the only difference is probably that it's slightly quieter than stock.

If theres a big price drop in SSD's by the time i buy i may think about it but currently there a little to pricey. SSD's are still in the £2 per gig region, while an ordinary hdd will get you closer to 16GB a £

I'm guessing the rest of the specs are pretty much ok since people have only really commented on the hdd's so far.

I dont useually overclock my stuff so the coolers quietness was the selling point (the fans i own currently are silent + the gfx card listed has passive cooling so i thought i may as well go the whole way) If you think going for a better cooler will help the internal temp noticeably though i may expend a bit more on it :P

Also, SSD's reduce in performance every time you read/write to each cell. Unlike a hard drive, you can not get this performance back. And it is noticeable.

Summary:
Motherboard swapped for ATX since case will fit it (more sata,usb + expantion bays)
Proccessor price droped £30 - woo
22cm side fan added
Cd/dvd rewrite swaped to sata equiv (no ide on new board)


Total: £439 (yup it go cheaper)

If i upped ram to 8gb total would be: £476

Thanks for the DVD drive, I needed that one! Also, what I'm gonna do with the RAM in my custom PC is purchase 4GB and then if I need 8GB then I have two slots free, so it's no problem.
