Appealling to the masses. All started thanks to me wanting to know how many original Div. 1 teams are in the Premier League.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
8 of the 16 original Division One sides (1892-93) are in the Premier League for the 09/10 season. This can rise to 9 in Burnley win tomorrow in the Championship Play-Off final.
Manchester United finished 16th that year, but were not relegated, for reason I do not know. They did however finish in the same position the following year, and were relegated.
The last time Liverpool finished above Man Utd was in the 01/02 season, they done the double over them with a 3-1 home win and 1-0 away win.
The aggregate scores between Man Utd and Liverpool between now and 28/4/1894 (first meeting, in an English test match) is 245-227 to Man Utd, there have been 177 games between the sides. 1.28 goals for Liverpool per tie, and 1.38 goals for Man Utd per tie.
The spread of where the original Premier League teams (22) are as follows:
PL: 9-10 - Man Utd, Aston Villa, Blackburn, Liverpool, Spurs, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton (Shef Utd, providing a win win tomorrow)
CCC: 7-8 - QPR, Shef Wed, Coventry, Ipswich, Crystal Palace, Nott'm Forest and Middlesbrough (minus Shef Utd, providing a win tomorrow)
CCL1: 4 (5) - Norwich, Leeds, Southampton, Oldham (Wimbledon as MK Dons)
CCL2: 0 - N/A
Other: 1 (0) - Wimbledon AFC (now MK Dons)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
That's all for now, that last table was a nightmare, so I can't be arsed for a while. Might add a bit more tomorrow or whatever.
