Been there for quite a while. Pretty decent manager - been linked with Sunderland - don't know if there is any substance in the rumours.

Well i'd settle for him tbh, although he did crap at Cov, he did recognise the likes of Robbie Keane i think it was?

He's a Championship level manager, much like Celtic are a Championship level club. And I reckon they'd struggle in that league as well.

I think you've got a shot with Avram Grant to be fair.

We haven't got the team for Avram Grant. Avram did so well at Chelsea because their defence is immense (brap). He had players like Terry, Carvalho, Alex, A Cole... If he came to us he'd have A Ferdinand, McCartney, Bardsley and McShane... He'd have to do some big spending to make the team work well with Avram's style of play.

Well Steve Bruce is favourite atm, wouldn't mind him like although he's just a fat geordie.
Good manager, brought in some good players with little money to Wigan.

Bruce is surely staying at Wigan? Even if you do get Bruce - that's not a big name :)

How much money will he have to spend after selling Palacios and Valencia?

I would be happy with Bruce. Like you said, hes a clever spender. Got Valencia, likely to move to Madrid, he got Heskey at the right time for his game to improve and sell him on to Villa, got Palacios and improved his game to sell onto Spurs... And the best thing is, here, he could keep those quality players and not need to sell them on like Wigan do.

No but all Sunderland was talking about is 'we're getting a big name' this and 'we don't deserve to be there' that. Boring.

Steve McLaren? the wolly with the brolly? he has somewhat built up his career again, finished second in the Dutch league, managed to get FC TWENTE into the Champions League qualifiers, now he's salvaged back some reputation, who knows? a move back to England could be on the cards.

I think Sbragia probably meant a bigger name. Not a big name. The minute he said that im sure there were Mackems screaming out for Grant, Sven, Rjikard, Jol, but I don't think it'd happen.

Double post like, but needed to be posted.

Wigan have given Sunderland the go-ahead to speak to their manager Steve Bruce about taking over as the new Black Cats boss, BBC Sport understands. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/sunderland/8069299.stm)
