Do you lose any of your music, videos or apps ? some of them i payed for and i dont really want them to be deleted and is it worth jailbreaking it ?

Wolverhampton
27-05-2009, 11:39 AM
Nothing will get deleted if you jailbreak it, all your stuff will still be on your iPod, and btw if you do jailbreak you void your warranty, and some consider it illegal. (so says Apple)

Download QuickPwn from here, best application to jailbreak your iPhone/iPod touch, doesn't use any customer firmwares ect:
http://www.zshare.net/download/51721230fe4b9459/

Alternatively you can get the link from here:
http://www.quickpwn.com/downloads

Then by clicking "download QuickPwn for Windows"

Hope I've helped!

It's pretty easy and self explanatory, and the program does most of it for you.

SaintSmithy
27-05-2009, 11:56 AM
So should i use the Zshare 1 ?

Wolverhampton
27-05-2009, 11:58 AM
Yeah, the zshare one is just the link off the QuickPwn website lol.

What do i do here ?

Download which ever firmware you are on. I'm assuming that you are on a 2nd gen iPod Touch with 2.2.1 firmware, so I would download the one called 2.2.1 (2G): iPod2,1_2.2.1_5H11a_Restore.ipsw - but as I said, depends which firmware you are on.

when you've downloaded the correct firmware, just click "browse" in QuickPwn and locate the .ipsw file that you downloaded. (.ipsw = firmware)

SaintSmithy

downloaded the firmware trying to locate it but i cant even find it

Excuse me? Do your research whoever you are, Jailbreaking completely restores the OS to the default factory 2.2.1 settings with the modifications for the jailbreak. Thanks for the -rep by the way that'll be removed.

The image is a complete device restore now stop thinking your so ******* big.

I have just asked around a few iPod Touch users, they all say it removes them.

And by the way, names should be capitilized and not quoted.

It does actually... As it's doing the same as a restore because it's installing custom firmware which therefore restores your iPod to factory settings and deletes all the apps and music from the iPod until you sync your ipod again.

Tawm is right.

I'm sorry but it does remove your songs and whatever else you have on there. Because its basically like restoring it.

Wolverhampton
27-05-2009, 01:24 PM
Sorry yeah forgot to say I do actually backup my phone before I do it, would explain why all the Apps and stuff are still on lmao.

How can you get frustrated when it's the most simplest program, ever? :/

It's the easiest way to jailbreak rofl, if you can't use that give up now.

Yeah, I'm just gonna jump in here.
I used to recommend QuickFreedom, but I tried redsn0w 0.3 a couple of days ago and imo it completely defeats QF.
It also didn't delete anything at all from the ipod.

SaintSmithy

Wolverhampton
27-05-2009, 05:37 PM
use quickpwn, as stated above, you don't lose anything, as I said before, before everyone jumped on my back, when I was actually correct.

My videos and music didn't get deleted when I JB'ed it? Or are you talking about the PwnageTool method?

Wolverhampton
27-05-2009, 06:11 PM
PwnageTool method would delete everything cause it creates a custom jailbroken .ipsw that you RESTORE through iTunes, thus losing all your stuff.

But yes, QuickPwn doesn't delete anything on your iPod Touch/iPhone if done correctly.

If you do jailbreak it, dont hang around geeks with bluetooth on as the root passward defaults to the same.
Generally you'll just gain some additional photos, or find some have some extra bits you dont remember / random shutdowns. But they could do alot of damage with it (delete all your music kinda stuff) so make sure u change the pw if you do. I assume theres guide how online somewhere. Aint got an iphone so aint delt with that side before, just with command line pranks :p

When you try again, use http://redsn0w.com
It'll be done within minutes at the most, with nothing lost.

u get all appstore apps free when you download installous via cydia.

You'll need to have http://cydia.hackulo.us added to the sources list in Cydia before it will come up. Go to Cydia on your phone, then manage, then sources, then edit (top right), then add (top left) and put the URL of the hackulous repo in.

:)

Wolverhampton

Theres a few games, NES emulator, PSX emulator, Macman.

It's mainly used for other things that you can't really do with an iPod though.

Cracked app store apps (from http://appulo.us/appdb/), and it's definitely worth doing in my opinion, but I'd still advise you to pay for the apps that you enjoy most :)
